Fibre Roll out

[link to this post]

Hi,
My road was skipped on the VM rollout yonks ago.

We now have City Fibre, Hyperoptics working around here as well as BT roll out within the next twelve months.

BIDBUK showed work around the surrounding streets by altnets but nothing for our street frown

I noticed today one of the BT poles has a purple wire coming out and about a metre and a half up the pole, is this a fibre wire?

I think the purple thing is something to pull other cable though, but I could be wrong. but fibre could still be with you soon.

Maybe a close up picture would help clarify, could be fibre as most of the draw ropes I have seen have been blue (mainly Openreach) but maybe workers for some altnets use a different colour rope.

Probably a Cityfibre tube.

Things were better under Labour.

Purple duct is used by Altnets for FTTP.

Indeed you're mistaken. They use blue rope to pull cable. It'll be a purple microduct the fibre will be blown through.

Was just going to post the same observation. It was a bit of a pointless post made by zyborg47

it wasn't a pointless post by Adrian because it got corrected and if somebody searches for "phone pole purple rope/tubing" this will come up..

Not so sure that theory holds water as the posts leading to the fact that purple ducts were used by altnets were all replying to the OP not to Adrian so would have presumably been posted without Adrian's addition.
