Which isp on Openreach?

[link to this post]

I am currently on a Virgin media 500meg plan and it has been having more issues over the past year especially with these bi-weekly disconnects at around midnight from gaming services and discord.

Here is an image of my thinkbroadband on my Virgin line with a Hub 3. I have seen worse but I would assume that anything on FTTP would be a lot more stable than this and not have these weird midnight issues that virgin have had more and more often VM thinkbroadband monitor

I like to play games online a lot and virgin has had a lot of issues with that recently, I am thinking of switching to one of the Openreach ISPS and am having trouble deciding between who. I am looking at BT and Giganet right now as the best option. Just worried about Giganet not having the infrastructure that BT might have. Reading reviews of Giganet there seems to be an issue with packet loss with them which is heavily putting me off them.

Another worry is that my home currently does not have FTTP installed, my office/gaming area is at the back upstairs in my house and when I got my virgin cables instlaled around a decade ago they installed them up here without much issue( the engineer's are always super nice) so my desktop PC has easy access via Ethernet.

I am hoping that openreach would be able to provide the same kind of service?

Could try upgrading to VM gigabit and the hub5. I've had it for nearly a year and it's been absolutely rock solid. Now have FTTP from openreach available but happy with the them for now, also have a similar problem in VM cables are in a better place. Don't think openreach will be massively flexible with where they put it.

You could have a look at the log on the Hub 3 and register for VM Community forums and post the log. This way they can tell you if the problem is software or physical connections in the street.

Wouldn’t help if there is a physical problem with 30 year old cables in the street, which is the problem my Hub 3 shows every time there is very hot weather. Not worth paying double for the same rubbish.

Waiting for Openreach or an Alt Net so I can get rid of Virmin Media, whose customer services tried hard but couldn’t get networks division to replace the faulty cabinet. Or even fit a sun shade!

Can I politely ask why you seem so desperate to have your OP deleted?

Your BQM link asks me to log in to the main site. I am logged in, so I suspect your link is private to you and not visible to anyone else.

The OP now contains "Edited by seb (Thu 17-Aug-23 21:22:44)"

Connections: OnePlus 8 Pro on Three 4+ (LTE)/5G and at home Three Mobile, with (Three)ZTE MF286D router giving about 113/20Mbps.
