FTTP Cable Routing Query

Hi,
After a bit of advice on cable routing for new FTTP install please.
Currently the master socket is on the 1st floor at the back and the cable enters at the front door. I'd ideally like the ONT and router to go in the same location, so it looks like the cable going up the outside wall and in on the first floor.
The problem then is it's about 9m from the front wall to where I would like the router ONT and I'd like to avoid any unsightly cables.
I understand there's now a fire safety regulation for cable so I assume I would not just be able to use self adhesive trunking attached to the walls?
Can anyone provide details of the cable diameter so that I could look into appropriate sized trunking please? Is there a way to fireproof the trunking without it being unsightly?

Is there power where the fibre would enter the first floor from outside ?

Site the ONT there, then you can run Cat5 or 6 from that location to wherever you want the router to sit. Then this will be installed exactly as you would like it to be done.

Unfortunately not, the nearest power socket is about 6m (cable length due to going around a doorframe) from the front wall, even further on the ground floor

Is it by any chance a detached or semi or end of terrance and the location you would prefer the ONT on the end/side wall?

Have a friend who has about 10-15m of fibre from CSP going round the side of his house before entering close to the ONT.

I have also had an install done with about 8m of internal fibre tacked on te skirting board - just disappears from view!

Good shout, but unfortunately no it's not, so would have to run cable over the roof I guess.
What diameter was the cable that you had tacked onto the shirting board please?

Just measured some, 2.8mm

The FTTP "cable" carries no electricity and has no metal conductor in it - it is just a fibre in a protective sleeve - so there is no fire safety issue with it which would require trunking.
Trunking could be useful to protect the fibre from damage, but that is a different issue.

Just had fibre installed and persuaded the installer to run about 16m of fibre from back to front of house. I had drilled through 2 awkward internal walls already, he drilled one.
The fibre is very thin about 3mm as already quoted and was glued in position along the wall corners and the ceiling/wall corner. The holes he drilled he filled !
It is hardly visible being white/translucent.
AIUI for my provider, the inside fitting team will NOT drill from outside to inside above ground level, this has to be done by an outside team who would then install the black junction box used to connect the external thicker fibre to the thin internal cable INSIDE !
If done at Ground level the junction box goes on the outside.

Incorrect. It’s not about electricity, it’s about the cable not coming away from the wall and blocking someone’s escape in the event of a fire.

The cable has to be attached using metal fixings when ran near a fire escape route like over a doorframe or above a false ceiling. No plastic cable clips allowed but staples are fine and there’s metal clips that can be used inside trunking.
