Thanks for your reply
The storm was just wind and rain, the cable runs through some bushes halfway up the 4 poles
the wind probabaly blowing the bushes back and forth stretches the cable, and a break my occur

It takes over a week for openreach to come out and fix the cable, we are currently running of a 4g router untill its fixed.

Because the light on the router was solid orange, some here belived that we still had internet and that it would be back on soon, (as ogange on a BT router on a phone line means username and password rejected) BUT must mean Break in the connection on a SOGEAR connection

I told them it was a break in the cable and needed openreach to repair it, But they belived what the saw online, which cant apply to SOGEA

Hope this make sence

Different versions of the bt hub have differing meanings to the solid orange light!..... And as we didn't know which hub it was, you ended up with different answers .......

The lights on the BT Hubs have nothing to do with phone lines or SOGEA.

https://www.bt.com/help/broadband/fix-a-problem/broa...

The lights differ between hubs but they all refer to internet connection. The lights are identical for connections with normal phone lines and SOGEA lines.
Ignore the SOGEA part it is irrelevant.

Solid orange light meaning:
"The Hub is working but isn't connected to the internet"
"Connect a device to your Hub. Open a new web browser window and follow the on-screen help wizard to get connected."

That's for the 2 most recent smart hubs. The same goes for the newest hub that I'm trialling with EE.

I'm not sure where you read that orange light means username or password incorrect. It does not mean that. You can no longer change the username or password on the BT hub. (Edit: that's a red light on hub 4 and 5, very old hubs).
