Re: FTTP on Demand 1000 ?

[re: jpm] [link to this post]

Everywhere around me in my town has FTTP. I asked a BTOR guy today that was working on the cab and he said it should be live now to order. So I don't know.

I just want rid of Virgin who are fine for speed like I get 1150 down and 100 up but for gaming they are useless. Their routing is woeful and I have to use a VPN just to get a decent ping.

Virgin Media FTTP 550mbs.

Then it sounds promising: check it daily, for the next two or three weeks. Try the Openreach checker *and* the BT wholesale broadband checker *and* your preferred ISP's checker, since not necessarily all ISPs will have the necessary interconnect capacity from day one (and sometimes even BT wholesale doesn't)

If after a few weeks nothing shows, or if the BTW checker shows your neighbours having it but not you, then fill in the Openreach contact form with the reason "I can't get fibre but my neighbours can". Sometimes individual properties get missed from database updates.

However, the fact that you have seen a change to 1000/220 FTTPoD suggests that you haven't been forgotten. Good luck!

Obviously good news that you can order FTTP , it’s odd that the survey note indicates congested duct ( the duct from the box containing the CBT and your property) , and a single stage install , unless policy has recently changed , a 2 stage install was the consequence of a ‘congested duct’ survey .

Awesome!

"Congested duct" is probably just indicating the duct hasn't been proved clear, so on the day it may need to be rodded. Not enough of a concern to turn it into a 2 stage install.

Good luck!

Thing is Virgin installed their fibre to my house over 2 years ago. So a nice fibre tube is already in place. They had a hard time rodding it through but soon cleared it all out.

Lucky you! Someone have to pay FTTPoD and your checker FTTP not available to available now. I do feel the pain for someone who pay expensive FTTPoD for you!

Because Virgin Media don’t have any obligation to share physical access infrastructure like ducts , the VM duct cannot be used by anyone but VM , hopefully your ‘congested duct’ will prove to be no barrier to providing service quickly and on the day of the appointment, the Openreach duct though is available for Alt Nets to use , should one appear in your area.

What are you talking about Max? This is a regular Openreach FTTP rollout. Nobody paid for FTTPoD.
