Truespeed indeed reply on Openreach for their infrastructure - after all their using their ducts and poles. That said there's nothing to stop them running overhead fibre to get a service to your pole.

Unfortunately it seems that nobody is actually willing to apply some common sense and put the effort in to address your issue.

Easier pickings elsewhere etc.

What ground my gears a bit was that Truespeed had dug up plenty of roads, in the newer estates where there are not above ground cabling, IE poles and such, Truespeed dug up entire roads to install those little black covers labelled 'Truespeed' where I assume the fibre is then pulled through from to get to the house once they order. They have dug up miles of pathways to do this which is significantly more work that just running a cable between two poles.

I cant say categorically but it seemed to be from what the OR guy was joking about was that they werent going to help Truespeed going above ground, but yeah I agree with you, doesnt seem like a big deal. I am the only person who has ordered Fibre in my entire postcode so far, we all live in 30's houses, you can see who;s connected to the new CBT's, so i'm not sharing with anyone at the moment I have a 2.5Gbit Nokia ONT, maybe they could open the taps for a little bit!

I wonder what toob are building (only altnet in my town) ; F&W were in the area but none of the postcodes I check can get service. No sign of OR or Cityfibre sadly.

In alot of cases altnets are the only option and actually generally are better priced for their speeds.

Gigaclear for example I think specialize in hooking up rural areas where Openreach, at least for now, dont have in their build plans. My mate lives on a farm, hes had 8Mbit Broadband for as long as I can remember, it always used to be a bit of a joke as that connection speed doesnt go that far these days, kids couldnt watch netflix if he wanted to watch a football stream etc....he was always jealous of my 350/35 Virgin Media. Then I recently got 900/110 which rubbed salt into the wound I guess......but then Gigaclear hooked him up and for £17 a month he has 300/300, who's laughing now.

In my town it was Truespeed only for Fibre for a long time whereas everyone has had access to Virgin Media forever, but now OR got around to my street I was finally able to leave that mob.

I think mostly because you're subsidising your internet with someone's pension fund. The altnets are all desperately trying to win users. I can see all these fibre altnets going the way of the cablecos in the 90s in the not too distant future.

Yes, most of these Altnets are investor lead, its all about making use of the grants and tax breaks offered to set up companies. They have no actual plan or need to make a profit hence the cheap pricing and high speeds offered. Its all about the 'potential' of profit to help a future buyout, where the shareholders benefit, and in the meantime the directors can award themselves a nice salary out of their continued borrowing.

Long gone are they days of an ISP growing out of a guy in his back bedroom starting out with a modem and an ISDN line charging his friends to 'dial up' because they enjoyed the technology. Now its a bit more ruthless for what money can be extracted before the bubble bursts.

thanks for the advertisement but will you answer the question

they use the ducts not the network...... saves them digging up the road.... if they have no network in the area the dont resell openreach and throw their own fibre from the cbt to you house
