Moved, hope dashed, the line is behaving exactly the same, though pings have improved.

One of the OR engineers told me the light was -15, does fibre light quality / strength (can) vary? is -15 the better end?
Also continuous packet loss on the BQM and using ping plotter, the losses start out at hope 6/7 occasionally 2and sometimes 1,

Could it be my internal network?

I have two external LAN cables that are clipped in etrc and were rated for external use. I have tested them and still pass on the wire sequence test but just thinking if they could be the cause? The erratic speeds have been there even with no cable or WIFI.

FTTP - nope those speeds are a joke.

Still on copper wire Co-ax

I am struggling to find site capable of testing beyond 1,000 mbits, 960 seems to be the limit for 1 gig devices.

I recently upgraded my home network to 2.5 GHz devices and managed to get download speeds of 1160 at the expense of killing to 2.5 GHz port on my hub.

My Broadband Speed Test - Avg Down: 932.3 Mbps, Avg Up: 101.2 Mbps http://tbb.st/1709199804890093955

My network is VM connection Gigabit Hub5 - Gigabit routers - Netgear Nighthawk R8000 & R7800 2 x cat5e cables to work room, have 3 gigabit switches at key points. Routers give me 3x 2.4 & 5 5.0 GHz WiFi channels - one for each device.

Do you have CityFibre available in your area? Something to consider if your current ISP can't resolve it.

If its an issue on the Fibre (bad splice / dirt in the connection) then Openreach should be able to resolve, but will probably need a fair bit of pressure on your ISP to get them to investigate this.

Which ISP did you move to?

Your post really makes no sense! With overheads a 1Gbit/s service will do about 940mbits. Thats same for ethernet as well, this is why you can get a 1.25gbits sfp+ module.

Also if you have upgraded your network to 2.5Gbit/s if you are still on a 1Gbit/s internet that is all you will get

Why 2.5ghz got into your post is anyone's guess

If on Virgin Media's DOCSIS network, vastly superior to twisted pair, then VM provide about 1.1 Gbit on their "Gig1" product, and with the Hub 5 and 2.5 Gbit PCs, you should be able to see faster than the normal 940 Mbps. In theory, as I'm not paying that money wink

Using the 2.5 GHZ port the contract states -
Normally available speed
Download between 1054 - 1136 Mbps
Upload between 92 - 104 Mbps

only reason I have the 1 Gig service was I got a £30 discount by having it 18 months ago, Which they also offered yesterday wen I called to change it. 500 mbit worked out dearer due to this discount

They are building but not got to me yet, few roads should have had some street works this week according to one street but nothing for me.
I moved to Sky, pings are way better but speed is erratic.
Ive run Sky own speed test which I believe is from them to the HUB and that is below minimum guarantee.

There sending an engineer tomorrow so fingers crossed it gets sorted. Having lived with 46Mb for years would be happy with their minimum or even 300 but stable.

I had work IT connect last week and he had to give up as DL was taking ages, he had done same with others and put it down to my connection!!
