[link to this post]

Finally, Openreach Symmetric 1Gbps/1Gbps from April 2025 but let's ask ... how much per month do you reckon it will be?

For me, I think monthly charges £125 a month

Also reported on this site:

Says it will be in limited areas.

I wonder if some big ISPs have been asking OR for symmetric options given the wholesale competition today from CityFibre, and the upcoming wholesale options from VirginMedia due to launch.

TBB say: We've asked if they can name any of the first places that will see the symmetric service.

Me say: I bet they won't telling you. Probably another site to check FTTP Symmetric Checker like another waiting game again.

It's obviously not going to be over £100/month

Its all irrelevant if you haven't got Openreach FTTP or likely to get it anytime soon.

FTTP not yet in my area, I think Openreach won't do my area until December 2026 I bet!

There might be a bright side for us third class citizens with no prospects of OR FTTP any time soon. Although this announcement is just PON based, maybe by the time they eventually get around to us we might get XGS-PON from the get-go? Having finally introduced a symmetric product, if they ever want to offer symmetric >1.2gps, they will have to go this way.

It is a good sign that competition from the likes of Cityfibre and Nexfibre and the various AltNets is starting to make OR look and take notice.

Be interesting to see how it compares price wise given my 2gb/2gb is
£49 pcm from you fibre.

It won't compete at all with that.
