I wouldnt exactly call a ISPs ONT cheap Chinese tat to be fair.

An expensive Chinese tat then smile

They were here, now they are gone. It must be awful to be scared of things like that, someone at work is scared of electric, they don;lt have any lights on, they use rechargeable lamps, how can people live like that? I feel for them.
I know there are things I don't do because of my thoughts about them, like loyalty cards and stuff like that, but not because I am scared or have some mental health problem, it is just that I don't need them and will get nothing out of them. Maybe a little bit than I do get fed up with companies, organisations and others wanting to know the in's and out’s of my life.

As for the ONT staying on, what makes people think that it is going to do anything different when you are away than when you are home? Okay you may be able to keep an eye on it when you are home, but a lot of the time they are shoved behind something, like mine is behind my TV and even so you will not know what is happening inside it.
i know routers are different to ONTs, but in all the years I have had routers, from about 2001 maybe was when I had my first router, none of them have even had a problem going pop. I have had one that stopped working correctly, but it did not go pop.

Anyway

Replying to a really old post made on 20th June 2019 seems a sensible thing to do fella considering the actual poster's account you replied to has been deleted 😎🤣
