Changing FTTP providor - question on external cabling

Hi, I'm looking at moving from BT GPON to VM XGS-PON.
I can't see this house ever going back to BT as I can also get Lightspeed and Gigaclear.

I would like the external fibre from Openreach CSP to ONT removed.
Can we also remove the CSP and visible fibre to the duct under my front garden? Would VM do that?

Worse case scenario I see is I ever go back to BT, might have to pay an install charge.

So you are gonna live there for ever and ever. Whats wrong with sky or zen or idnet etc etc ..

Why? But I mean, if you badly want to the cabling removed phone up your isp and ask for a quote (not vm)

Of course you can, and then if you damage the existing pon, OR will charge you.

Leaving the CSP there adds value to your house, as a future purchaser might insist on taking service from an Openreach-based provider, e.g. to continue their existing contract.

You can power off the ONT internally, and if you disconnect the fibre and remove it from the wall, probably nobody will be any the wiser. But I suggest you leave the rest in place.

It's a fair comment that the new house owner might want to migrate an Openreach service.
The cabling between CSP and ONT runs around my house, not the prettiest (but essential). It's not nice having multiple fibers running in parallel and multiple holes though you wall for each altnet.

In theory nobody but Openreach should be touching the fibre, and there's not a price list item to remove it so if you wanted it gone you'd have to do it yourself.

I would like input from others here (Openreach or ISP staff ideally) because there is a line in the FTTP price list that talks about charges for missing ONTs, and Note 12 says "12. In the event an ONT replacement is required due to customer damage TRC charges would be raised in addition to this equipment charge." which suggests that additional charges will be raised if a property that has an FTTP install takes it out and then wants it put back in - the wording isn't clear.

I wouldn't remove an FTTP network that was installed as it's good to have options. If the issue is untidy cabling then see what you can do about tidying them up.

Don’t get VM to do it.

(carefully) Remove the fibre lead in round the house yourself if it bothers you that much.

Don’t touch the CSP on the wall or the fibre feeding it.

The ONT ought to be stored safely, as at present its serial number is registered to your address. (Thinking of ease for those who come after)
