That is correct, so nothing really. I did have a smart plug on my ONT to see how much it took, but then removed it and forgot to note down the numbers.
I do have one on the router side, but it is not just the router, there is my smart thermostat, hub, the hub that runs the TRVs, a Echo 4th gen, an Ethernet switch and the router itself, which is a TP link thing, that lot is taking around 15 watts.
Wow.
Take about 11kWh a month, so works out at around £2.91 for me.
Most routers take around 6-7watts, so the rest is for the other junk.
It is amazing how much energy is used for little things.

it does start to add up, i have in total, 4 umanaged switches, one sfp+ managed switch, and two mesh units (one in router mode), combined i think they take up about £100 a year.
Its a shame we can't use solar energy for stuff like this; i mean quickly and effectively. We need usb c (latchable ones) for anything under 100w to be standard on all devices. That said, i can see poundland usb c cables causing issues .

Even if you are looking at 7 watts, which most of the time they are less than that, you are looking at 11 kWh there about over a month, so i with my electric at 22.32p a unit, you are looking at around £2.45 a month to run them
I think your sums are wrong.
.007 * 24 * 30 = 5.04 kWh per 30-day month.
.007*24*365.24/12 = 5.11 kWh per average month (slightly more accurate)
Given your stated unit price, that's £1.14 per month.
EDIT: or are you allowing 7W *each* for router and ONT, and counting the total? (The original question was about ONT power consumption only)

£100 a year? wow,
I presume you can put a small solar panel in place, but you need some back up.
I have a few smart plugs around here, I turn my TV and all the gubbins off when not being used, Blu-ray player, the lot. Not that there are a lot these days, as everything is now on the TV, like Disney+ and stuff like that.
Up here in the computer room, it is only the printer and the network adapter that is left on, saying that i do leave the Mac on and I must get used to turning that off.
Who use Poundland usb cables?

I'm not putting to much stock into believing the figures, I plugged it in out of curiosity when it was first fitted and just haven't got around to unplugging it, I never monitored the BT ONT so I had nothing to compare it with
I don't have anything to measure the DC side and must not be tempted in buying something that can

I am not great at arithmetic, but I put in 7 watts into a Watt to KwH caluulator, so 7 watts for around 730 hours, which according to Alexa is the amount of hours in a month, yeah I know it will differ a bit. That comes up with 5.11 kWh, Multiply 5,11kWh with the price per unit, which is 22.32p, comes to 114.552.
wow, you are right, I was wrong. It was early in the morning, I was not awake, that is my excuse
I put the smart plug back on the ONT when I came home this evening and at the moment it is saying 5.8watts, it pops up now and again to 7 watts. I presume it will use more when under load, not that it is ever going to be under full load as it can cope with 1Gig, I have 500Mb/s, unless that makes no difference.

Does anyone have any real figures (measurements) for the power consumption of ONTs?
I assume that if these are XGS-PON versions then there is a significant increase in the power required.
I remember some years ago seeing a 10Gb/s ethernet card fitted to a server and was surprised to see a large heatsink attached to it.
Mine is within a few watts I think, my UPS increases/decreases in batches of 8 watts. When I connected the ONT to the UPS, it didnt change its reported consumption.

But you stated 11kWh
i think you got confused, I said about the ONT above, but below I also said about how much my router took with all the other stuff added, like hubs and switches and Echo unit, that was 11kWh

Not sure why people worry, if you go for FTTP you need one in most cases, the amount they use is minimal. I bet some people waste more energy by filling their kettle up to the brim when it is not required
if people are worrying about a couple of quid a month, then they have serious money problems.
Saying that before i went FTTP, I did look at how much the ONT used energy wise, but since I already used a separate modem and router for FTTC, it was not going to make a great difference.
All the other bits I have use more energy than the ONT.
