How soon to a delivery date?

[link to this post]

I just received the email from OpenReach that as I have told them I'm interested, my address is now in their build plans for Ultrafast Broadband (FTTP). They will let me know when they can give me a delivery date.

This fits in to the exchanges listed in this news article:

Typically how long now from today to a delivery date?

There is no typical time, they hope to do 25 million by end of 2026 so you may be one of them.

I had that email almost 5 years ago. Openreach are yet to come up my street.

Of course, your own mileage may vary (and I hope it does!), but there really is no way to predict it, nor even be sure that they will actually even come to your property until the day that they actually do it.

Thanks for the info. Sorry yours is still waiting that long!

I can get faster speeds through Virgin Media (up to 1 gig so far), but the latency is no better on the higher packages. FTTP should give me at least half the current latency of my VDSL and an even more stable connection.

It's cool. My street was lucky and was one of a handful that updated to FTTP by an altnet (youfibre) earlier this year. But many of the surrounding streets, and even houses quite close to mine, weren't covered by this and are still waiting for Openreach, while suffering end-of-the-wire VDSL service :-/

3 years ago, maybe 4 now, I forget, I filled in some form on some OR webpage to be kept informed of fibre build plans where I live. I got no ack at the time, and diddly squat ever since. Now out of the blue today comes an email from OR saying they're updating their records, and to keep receiving all their lovely informative emails I need to re-register by 5 Feb.

I can't imagine how I'd cope without them all, so I'll re-register pronto, but just wondering if this is just some general updating exercise or whether it might be the first indication that they might finally be thinking of getting around to my village. Suspect not - there's no indication of that in the email.
