Project Gigabit Scope Query

Is it possible for me to tell (or infer) from the OMR data whether or not I am in scope for the local authority Project Gigabit funded fibre rollout ? If not, is that information available from anywhere else ? In my case this is for Lot 29 / CityFibre.

Reason for asking is that after a decade of struggling to maintain a decent internet connection of any kind here, I think the time has come to admit defeat and move house if there is no prospect of fibre being deployed here.

If that’s sufficient to be included, thanks and all good. What made me doubt that would be the case is that the contract is for ca. 50,000 properties, so 6% of the total for the county. That would mean commercial rollouts would have to hit close to 94% (less some for the voucher schemes that have already happened), and that seemed a bit of a stretch based on what I’ve read up to this point.

Worth saying fella that you can be considered in scope after the OMR but when they come round to do the street surveys they can decide to exclude your property or postcode so until they have done the work to enable your postcode nothing is guaranteed.

There are some properties (in general) that are gigabit white and are deemed to be too expensive. This may expand if the government does slash the PG funding.

Thanks, understood. Of the 19 properties in my postcode, 18 got fibre from Openreach a while ago under a voucher scheme. My place was excluded because weirdly it is connected to a different exchange to the other 18 and therefore wasn’t in the contract scope. Would be more than a little frustrating if I’m excluded again next time round on the grounds of cost, but not a lot I can do other than up sticks and move.

that shouldn't have mattered but i've seen rollout done by post code. so like ab and ac (9 and 10 house numbers) on a main road, and both ab and ac are on their post code boundaries.

if your road has been done and yours hasn't - which you are suggesting, i'd be checky and use the OR form and select "my neighbour can get fttp but i can't" and see what happens

The fact that all your postcode has a gigabit service apart from you will go against you fella as they will only be looking at doing your property so the usual spreading of infrastructure costs across all properties (in your case 19) won't happen so it could become expensive for them to do.

The fact that your property was connected to a different local exchange than the others in your postcode should not have mattered as the fibre infrastructure in many many cases doesn't come from the local exchange anyway.

Thanks I’ll give it a go. One avenue I haven’t tried so far.

My postcode is a long narrow one along a country lane and I’m just over the border into the area served by another exchange. But the neighbour on my side of the road a couple of hundred yards along does have fibre.

I did try a FTTPoD quote but that came back > £100K.
