BDUK

[link to this post]

Now that most BDUK contracts have been awarded, do you think it would be beneficial for these Altnets to publish approximate start dates for FTTP based on postcode location?
Obviously this would be subject to change due to unforseen circumstances and possibly updated on a monthly basis. I would have thought this could be beneficial for both the Altnet and consumer, as the consumer could work out whether or not to take out another 2 year contract with the existing provider or not, which could mean quicker signups with Altnets if people are not waiting a long time for current contracts to expire.

I have 6 months left on my current VDSL contract and cannot wait to get FTTP. Altnet Quickline have got the contract for my area, but cannot/will not give me any timescales. 18 months ago I was worried to sign up to VDSL again but luckily it has paid off.

Its on the wishlist for most consumers who are interested in full fibre becoming available at their property and has been for as long as I can remember. I'm not a betting person but I think its unlikely to ever happen.

If it's imminent, sign up for VDSL w/o contract for now i.e. 30 days rolling.
