Current g.fast providers

[link to this post]

Hi,

Sorry if this has been asked recently, I have searched and not found anything.

Does anyone know which ISPs currently supply g.fast? My location only has g.fast (no FTTP available) All roads in a circle around mine have FTTP.

Thanks

G.fast is available (called SoGfast) but you need Openreach G.fast modem as the engineer no longer provided it. You can purchased it via ebay for 2nd hand G.fast modem. But you need wireless router as well.

Have you checking BTw Checker / Openreach Fibre Checker to see if FTTP is available as you said many road around you have FTTP but not your address? I am sure your address should have it (maybe it missing from database)

Thanks for the reply.
I have checked the Checker:

From the FTTP map: https://labs.thinkbroadband.com/local/broadband-map
https://i.postimg.cc/MHkFzxhd/FTTPMap.png
I live in the middle of the image.
They're not flats or anything strange. But they are newer than some of the other roads (mid 90s), phone lines come underground rather than from telegraph poles.

I do wonder why we were skipped.

Thanks,

It used to be that "normal" consumer ISPs like EE/Sky/TalkTalk offered it for the same price as 150 FTTP.
But now it looks like only "niche" ISPs offer it at a higher cost.

Hopefully we'll get FTTP sometime soon.

U can email Openreach and ask them if FTTP come to your address soon as I know top of the range SoGfast very expensive £54 a month with filesanctuary (18 months) or £70 a month with unchainedisp (12 months) for Gfast 330/50.

Having a look on streetview, it looks like the BT jointboxes are older than 1990s and there are a lot of them, which in itself is unusual for 90s developments.

A gander at the year of manufacture on the jointboxes may provide a clue.

My highly unscientific guess is that something was there before your houses and a buried cable was reused meaning no ducts are available.

Unlimited Edition. Unlimited Supply.
