Cerberus will be alright. Not a fly by night operator. Not the cheapest. But you know they will stand behind the service of what they sell. Or at least they did 😂

Unchained ISP 160/30 £60/m with a £25 set up fee, 12 Month Contract

Would be worth finding out the cancellation charges

He probably doesn't want 18 months contract with File Sanctuary or 12 months contract with UnchainedISP. What if his FTTP become available within next 6 months?

Hi adslmax,

You're right, the FRITZ!Box 7530 AX does not directly support G.fast, however we deploy this as a "two box" solution, in conjunction with an Openreach MT992.

While Openreach don't make the MT992 directly available to ISPs anymore, there are plenty on eBay for around the £20-£30 mark, and we advise our SOGFast customers to pick one up from there. Doing an eBay search with the terms "openreach mt992" seems to return the best results.

Getting these from eBay works out to be much cheaper for customers as Openreach were charging ISPs close to £70 + VAT for these towards the end!

The MT992 essentially acts as a zero-configuration media converter of sorts, and you can plug in any PPPoE-capable router with an Ethernet WAN port (such as our FRITZ!Box 7530 AX or FRITZ!Box 7690) into the MT992, and you set the username/password on the router.

I believe that Zyxel model is unfortunately now out of support and no longer receives firmware updates (so no security patches).

It does support G.fast as a "one box" solution though, but I don't think there are many G.fast-capable router models that still get security updates, which is why most new installs are done the "two box" way.

When I got the Openreach G.fast Modem I did asked the engineer last year was the modem itself updated to latest security patches because the modem was locked down. The engineer say he has no idea how to unlock it and unable to check the latest firmware on the modem. I do own Zyxel XMG3927-B50A G.fast Router with last security updated from Zyxel support team 5.17(ABMT.6)C0 firmware https://webservice.zyxel.com/end-of-life
