I don't know if this has been covered before. I am with Sky and want to get FTTP which is available for my property. However Sky will not accept my order as I have a care alarm. Apparently there is a blanket Ofcom/Openreach ban on all FTTP orders where a care alarm is in place. However, I have spoken with 2 Openreach installation engineers (there is a cabinet right opposite my house) who told me to get a letter of exemption from my care alarm provider which I have done. My care alarm is digital and has nothing to do with a phoneline or the internet. I have put this to Sky but still they refuse to accept my order. Is there anything else I can do? Please note I would prefer to stay with Sky.

Goto another provider. They just need to add an exemption note to the order

Can you confirm how the care alarm contacts the provider in an emergency. Wanting to make sure that you are actually independent of an analog phone (caring mode 😀)

If your care alarm has nothing to do with a phone line then as far as Sky need to be concerned you don't have a care alarm. Don't confuse them, just say that you don't have one (any more).

The ban is not down to Sky but originates from either Ofcom or Openreach. It is already on record that I have a care alarm. Sky say that they are unable to process my order.

ok..
I assume at one stage you had an analog version. Contact that provider and ask them to remove the marker from your line.
An aside
Where you planning to keep the phone number that you have at your house ?

So that’s an issue with Sky having no kept their records up to date (for whatever reason).

I think they're just being lazy. Sky must have a process for "I just moved into this house, I would like broadband, what is a care alarm?" queries and removing these blocks.

You’d think that the care alarm would be registered against the customer/telephone service, not the address.
