I had both FTTP & FTTC for a period, as it was effectively a different line into property and didn't need to transfer existing one. Once I was happy I could setup VOIP on the FTTP and everything was stable I transferred number to a VOIP provider which cancelled the phone & FTTC. If it is still the same, your only issue is do you want to pay for two providers for a few months.
I had a very similar situation myself. I didn't want to stick with my FTTC provider for FTTP, so I had the FTTP installed as a stand alone connection, and once I was sure it was working fine, ported the number from the FTTC service to VoIP thereby cancelling the FTTC service.
