Fibre waiting list

[link to this post]

Getting totally fed up with VM who have XGS-PON now (I'm on HFC) on my street but as an existing customer I can't upgrade.

Tempted to move to OR based fibre and potentially move back to VM after a year or so (potentially, or just abandon VM).

However, FTTH is now showing waiting list. I believe this is most likely to be because the pole is at capacity, but I have a (unused) copper pair going into my house.

Is there no way OR could replace the copper pair with fibre? I'd be surprised if the pole is otherwise full.

Obviously only an informed guess, but the OR FTTP waiting list is more likely due to the number of ports available on the CBT (fibre DP) on the pole.

One good thing about music, when it hits you feel no pain.

I agree with this, they use to supply one more lit ports on the pole than required but I think they have now stopped doing that meaning it then only takes one property to have two feeds and the availability is gone.

they do appear to be clearing FTTP ones after a little bit of time. I did some checking into a few last month and many were simply coming back to poles that could not carry any more cables, which seems to be triggering some of the Waiting List flags.
Although a historical comment this is very interesting from Martin.

As there is Nexfibre XGS-PON, have you checked if GiffGaff can supply you? They are also recent partners with Nexfibre.
