Hi all,
I'm looking at buying a flat in a small block of 8 in the centre of town. The building was converted from a nursing home into a block of flats. If I do an availability check on any of the 8 flats they only show SOGEA available. However, properties next door on both sides show Openreach FTTP available, as do all the other nearby properties.
I went to look at the outside of the property today and from looking at the front (street-facing) I can see no drop wires, but as I looked round the back I noticed that one of the flats has Openreach FTTP from a pole at the back of the building (drop wire to fascia board, cable to Openreach box that looks like this https://lymm.uk/sites/default/files/2022-06/2022.10%... and a single cable going through the wall into their flat).
This leads me to believe that most of the flats must be using underground cabling connected to the Openreach copper network, but somehow one flat has managed to get a new FTTP provide. How is this possible? I was under the impression that if your address showed no FTTP availability, you couldn't persuade Openreach to connect you via a different/nearby pole.
Thanks
Matt
