Current install time from ordering FTTP?

[link to this post]

Asking for a friend whose going travelling but wanting to order FTTP. His ISP have emailed him to explain he can upgrade from FTTC to FTTP due to the upcoming PSTN switch off.

He is out of the country a fair bit over the next few month, but wants to get it installed asap. His ISP arent very helpful with times from ordering to installation and he doesnt want to be out of the country when the engineer plans on coming.

From others experiences, whats the lead time from ordering to installation. This is if you dont have an ONT box so need that installed

Depends on the amount of work, i ordered fttp on the first of december and have a install date for the 7th march the civils for ducting to the nearest street chamber 30m a way are set to start next week. If it's already ducted could be a lot quicker.

As someone has replied …. it is dependent on many different factors.

Could it be possible he leaves you keys, tells you where he wants the kit put, so he can order … and you can attend site for access ?

Received a letter just the other day ..

Yea I've suggested that as an option. Seems with FTTP there is a lot of unknown factors compared to previously switching/upgrading, depending on what infrastrure is currently present at your premises and the surrounding area

Sometimes depend on the isp you may be able to specify an install date or choose between dates. As this is an upgrade i don't know if that is still feasable.

If your friends does leave you the keys, make sure he's given you at least 3 different paths and if at all possible be able to be contactable.

At least two weeks, but you can usually pick a date further out than that.

On Monday (touch wood) I should be getting a CityFibre service installed that was ordered in November. Openreach seem more consistent with the gap between order and install.

When we upgraded at home in 2022/3 it was a month from order to install but it was over the Christmas period i.e.: mid December order - mid January install.
At the small Museum that I volunteer for, an upgrade last summer, took just over two weeks to first visit by contracted technician, plus three days for an Openreach technician, that knew what he was doing to actually do the job.
