Should I do anything about this?

[link to this post]

I recently had a new FTTP connection installed with new ducting. The ducting team was not great. While they were there I asked them to re-route the ducting because it was on the wrong side of the front door. They said they would but they left without doing it and never came back.

Anyway the exit point of the ducting is here and the connection is now up and running and all good. However should I cover this before the rain comes? What's the best way to do it? Pretty poor that is left in this condition?

Its really not a good finish in my opinion, I would as a bare minimum ask for a duct plug to help stop object ingression although it does seriously need more than that to be honest, crazy what they get away with these days.

When my ducting was similar left uncovered I used a plastic cap from an old aerosol can, cutting a slot down its side so it would go over the fibre cable. Did the job marvellously. I don't think it is a problem though as water getting into the ducting won't affect its performance.

The point at issue is not what bodges the customer uses to ameliorate the results of shoddy installation but whether the customer should accept such shoddy installation in the first place.
