Low Speeds

Upgraded from 2meg to an indicated 5.5meg in April.

This is true but that's no gaurantee the ISP you choose wont then encounter problems in the future. Also it's quite hard to decide as generally people only complain when they have problems on forums like this and they just about all generate some complaints, even the best ISP in the land will have some problems so it can be a complete minefield deciding.

I used to be with Pipex, they once had an amazing reputation I joined them off the back of that really, then during the time I was with them their service got worse and worse.

Then I joined Orange a couple of months ago, cost was an issue to me so I know it's never going to be plain sailing with the cheaper ISP's. However, researching here they seemed OK, there was actually very few complaints in this forum at the time, most people saying speeds fine (long as you're not on LLU), crappy CS but that's the gamble you just hope you don't have to contact them. And speeds had been fine until about a week ago, solid 6.2 most of the time dipping to around 3mb peak hours.

I guess just have to sit it out and hope Orange sort things out, doesn't seem any point in contacting them over this. The slower peak time speeds (getting around 750-1mb) wont bother me so much now, I was annoyed last week as there was sporting event in Holland I was trying to stream and I couldn't properly as the speeds were [censored].

Yes I have to admit Orange has given me good service up untill a week ago..I agree with your comments and hope Orange improve the speed issues at peak times.
I must admit speed is much better tonight at this time.

I have been getting speeds like this for past couple of weeks, so there is light at the end of the tunnel.

According to rumour on other groups there was a high power meeting at Orange to discuss the poor speeds on their network. Anyone know the result?

Does anyone know how many customers Orange have on BB.

BTW did call Orange this morning just asking about the whole issue and rep was kind enough to read to me statment issued by Orange. I can't quote word by word but basically they blame everybody else except themselves for speed fiasco. On the other hand it is nice to know Orange finally admits having problems. Until recently they were bull*****ing about faults with phone lines or equipment.
