Goodbye Orange

[link to this post]

Just a quick note to say I've bitten the bullet and decided to migrate from Orange to an LLU provider (O2) because those supplying Orange with their offnet product cannot sort out my bouncing IPP.

I must say though that the Orange technical people have been great and in their own words have been bashing their heads against a brickwall trying to get this problem solved.

My IPP has been either 135k or 2000k - but, the problem is that it's been 135k when I wanted to use the net! Throughputs logged on BT speedtester (clue!), have been down to 75k, even with syncs approaching 3 megs.

Many web pages would not load, and on-line transactions often timed out making purchasing a no-go. And, as for things like an I-player? What is it? I have never been able to run one!

This is a typical case apparently. Why is it that my IPP was always 135k in the evenings and all weekend, and back to 2 megs during the week daytimes ( when I was not able to use it!!). Hmmm, conspiracy theories anyone?

BT OR chased the line - report was good for 3-3.5 megs download. Loss to the cab from the exchange was 51db (gas filled cable) and then an extra 6db to my house. Did a lift and shift to a new rack. Installed NTE box. Checked the hard-wired BT extension cabling. I fitted an ADSLNation faceplate and connect direct to this.

Been paying £19.99 pm for this almost unusable service, which to be fair, is not the fault of my ISP, but those who provide the service to them.

So, in the next week I should be on an LLU service. I'll drop a note into the BB Chatter forum when (hopefully) this all goes well.

And thanks R for the pointers. I only got £50 cashback, so am chasing the £25! I suspect that when they changed it from £50 to £75 someone forgot to change the merchant transfer to eg QuidCo to £75 as well!!!

Crossing everything, except my lines wink

Cheers, and bye bye Orange (your provider has lost you a customer).

It might only track at the lower amount but then when accepted, come through at the higher amount smile

Gotta love Quidco though.

Yeah, it came in at £50, but the status said "validated", even though the website says it takes 60 days to validate. Something not quite right when it tracks back to QuidCo methinks.

QuidCo have asked the merchant to investigate (ie O2!!).

But yes, 'tis good eh? I even get a few pennies back from eBay! Not a lot, but some! Quite nice to be able to have QuidCo transfer earning to PayPal too! Now that's a good one.

Rob.

Hopefully this will help with your line issue and not having to wait days for your profile to go back (as you won't have one).

My running QC total is currently £968 smile

Just been on there a while (2 years).

In a routine of checking out for bargains, although, on my recent visit to London.. I completely missed the LateRooms cashback frown
