I must say though that the Orange technical people have been great and in their own words have been bashing their heads against a brickwall trying to get this problem solved.
My IPP has been either 135k or 2000k - but, the problem is that it's been 135k when I wanted to use the net! Throughputs logged on BT speedtester (clue!), have been down to 75k, even with syncs approaching 3 megs.
Many web pages would not load, and on-line transactions often timed out making purchasing a no-go. And, as for things like an I-player? What is it? I have never been able to run one!
This is a typical case apparently. Why is it that my IPP was always 135k in the evenings and all weekend, and back to 2 megs during the week daytimes ( when I was not able to use it!!). Hmmm, conspiracy theories anyone?
BT OR chased the line - report was good for 3-3.5 megs download. Loss to the cab from the exchange was 51db (gas filled cable) and then an extra 6db to my house. Did a lift and shift to a new rack. Installed NTE box. Checked the hard-wired BT extension cabling. I fitted an ADSLNation faceplate and connect direct to this.
Been paying £19.99 pm for this almost unusable service, which to be fair, is not the fault of my ISP, but those who provide the service to them.
So, in the next week I should be on an LLU service. I'll drop a note into the BB Chatter forum when (hopefully) this all goes well.
And thanks R for the pointers. I only got £50 cashback, so am chasing the £25! I suspect that when they changed it from £50 to £75 someone forgot to change the merchant transfer to eg QuidCo to £75 as well!!!
Crossing everything, except my lines
Cheers, and bye bye Orange (your provider has lost you a customer).
Rob
