I take it it's something more difficult for them to fix with a quick phonecall? Will they have to send an engineer to the exchange?
No, it's just a request they have to make, but the difficulty is finding someone who knows what to do.

Ahh, I assume you mean when you get through to their level 1 techs when you call the technical phoneline? If thats the case then I understand since I've had 10+ phonecalls to them this month trying to sort out my other problem (which is now fixed).

What was the other, now fixed, problem? It may have a bearing on this, by lowering your IP Profile, say.

1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up => 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB => 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB => 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU => 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU => 2011: Orange 19 Meg WBC

It was a problem I posted about a few weeks ago. I was getting access to some websites and not others. It turns out after 10+ phonecalls to them it was a problem at the exchange they had to fix. 3 other Orange customers living in the same village as me were having that exact problem too. Including my relative whoose speed I checked the other day and he is getting 6.5k.

If orange support gets nowhere then email me [email protected] with a full set of stats from router, and a copy/paste of the speedtester.bt.com result and phone number for the line, and will contact BT Wholesale direct.

Only bother emailing during the week, as there is no-one to talk to at the weekend with regards to poking the system.

ISP should be able to do the equivalent with their interface to BT Wholesale.

Oh thank you for that! I will give them a try first though. I just wanted to pop in here for some advice first because my technical knowledge of these issues is limited.

Just remember to tell them the BT speedtester says

"Your DSL Connection Rate :8128 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 2000 Kbps"

and this indicates a stuck IP profile

wink
