Orange \ EE Broadband

Hi all,

I've noticed a significant deterioration in the speed of my Orange/EE broadband connection.

I was getting up to 6 Meg/sec up until a week ago, the first thing I noticed was slow browsing almost back to 56Kbps standards and gaming pings jumping from 30-50 ms up to 800ms.

I've tested the main socket, used the engineer test socket checked wiring around the house, unplugged all the phones, swapped out filters, all to no avail.

I ran the speed check which confirms the speeds listed in the status report.

I've included the ADSL status report below, if someone could offer expert advice ?

Those speeds are atrocious. You should be, and have been, getting 16 Meg sync.

Have you had frequent discons? If not you need Orange to look at it.

EDIT: Have you removed ring wire?

Just checked and the ring wire was connected, I've removed it and will re test.

Time to ring Orange.

Can't be sure, but we do see a few like this with Orange, almost as if by random they are manually forcing daft banded profiles onto lines.

Well, I called them.........

Despite having the master socket open and connecting the router directly to the test socket I was still asked to

1, Go to a speedtest site (speedtest.net) - Pointless seeing as the router's diagnostics speak for themselves

2, I was told to leave the router connected to the master socket for 72 hours and run speed tests and note results.

By following these steps I should at least get back up to 2Mb/sec (despite having at least 8Mb/sec prior to the Orange/EE rebrand)

And if I still have an issue after this, only then will they conduct a line test.

Pathetic......

Time to wheel out the big consumer rights guns.......
