Potentially Switching From O2 To EE

Hi all,

I'm looking to switch from O2 to EE as EE has now rolled out 5G to a lot of my local area. Though, I have a few things that I'd like to ask before I make the switch.

With O2 I get an excellent phone signal in most areas, but their 4G speeds are mostly dire. How are EE's 4G/5G speeds with a poor signal?

I currently have several months left of my O2 contract, meaning that I would incur quite a hefty cancellation fee. I know that some ISPs have paid off customer cancellation fees from their previous provider. Does EE do this?

I pay £25/month for an unlimited SIM with O2. EE is more expensive, but I only use a few GB month, so I'm wondering whether I could save money by moving to a smaller plan with EE?

EE only pay off previous network termination fees for BB up to a limit, not for mobile.

EE have online a 150GB SIM-Only for £20 pm. I've heard tell of a 10GB SIM-Only for £10 pm by calling CS.

That's a shame about the termination fees, I still have around a year left of my O2 contract, so it's just too much to swallow, at this stage.

My advice would be to get the EE SIM & put it into a mobile broadband dongle. Then for the year (or less) you could use both SIMs. The O2 SIM would be for text & phone calls & the EE SIM would be used for data (you would need to use the wireless connection on your mobile phone). The other option depends on if you have a dual SIM phone. If you do have a dual SIM phone then could have both SIMs in your phone then choose which one you use depending on signal strength.

Might be better than paying the cancallation fees. You could get a PAYG SIM that you could upgrade to a monthly contract when your O2 contract expires.
