Orange Livebox wireless issues.

[link to this post]

HI, I have a mate who is on Orange broadband with a Livebox which is being a pain when connecting things to it wirelessly.
Tried all different security options, unsecured, no firewall etc and no luck connecting via ipod or ps3. PC works fine when wired to it.
Not sure how to solve it so wondered if it could be ditched altogether and a router used instead with Orange login details ?
Any advice appreciated, thanks.

not sure how to solve your problems, but i never used the Live box, i just bought a second hand Netgear GT and flashed it with DGTeam firmware, it allows you to lower the SNR and egt a better sync......thats what i would do.

Do they remember to press the button to enable pairing? By default it will only accept a connection from a new device for 10 minutes after pressing the button, while the red light is flashing.

Or maybe the default wireless channel is congested?

Can't think of anything else, mine works quite well.

Yes another router will work, but the second line feature will only work via the Livebox.

What pain? Do wireless devices connect to router and are assigned an IP? But they do not connect to the Internet?

Do a "IPCONFIG /all" in a Command window and post here.

What does the Status of the Local Network/Attached Devices show?

Is the router's DHCP turned on?

Is the router's Wireless Network turned on? What wireless protocol (802.11 B, G, and/or N) is it using and is that compatible with the devices?

have you tried different wireless Channels?

You are advised to use WPA2 Security with a difficult Key.

Perhaps post the Wireless Network settings, hiding any keys or passwords.

I could go on & on, but networking is such a pain frown
