Hi - I really don't know why the actual fault is not being addressed here - you say you have a noisy or crackling phone line, there's no point doing anything else until this is resolved.

Systematically eliminate everything connected to the line to see if anything stops the noise using a telephone with a filter.

If you can find a real master socket, test using the test socket. If there's still cracking, get the line fixed - or resolve the faulty internal wiring or equipment problem.

Don't waste any more time with the ADSL equipment until the crackling is resolved. Then let the DLM settle down on the line and see how much better the speeds are.

What are results from http://www.speedtester.bt.com/ at times Data Rate (Sync Speed) is high and low. Post results in conjunction with the router stats you have been posting before. N.B. You can only run BT speedtester no more than once an hour.

Monitor these regularly and report back.
