Speed issues

Hi all,

I switched to EE broadband a month ago and I've found that torrents are running incredibly slow (1KB/s), even after I've forwarded the ports. My speed is around 3MB. Can any one help me understand what could be wrong? I can post whatever stats from the router here.

Please post the router stats for starters and results (text boxes only) from the Further Diagnostics at the bottom of the result from BTw Speed Tester. Don't bother with the results on the 1st page; you want the one with the IP Profiles.

For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 1.2 Mbps-4 Mbps.

Well, that says that, at the mo', you'll won't get more that about 3 Megabits/sec download.

In your OP you meant to say "My speed is around 3Mb" ("B" means Bytes; you need small "b" to say bits).

However. need your full router stats to say whether you should be getting more.
If using the BrightBox: Advanced Settings/ Accept/ System/ ADSL Status.

What was the estimate EE gave you on signing up? And also from here: BT BROADBAND AVAILABILITY CHECKER

P2P is slowed down by EE during peak times: http://e-gain.s3.amazonaws.com/external/content/Ts%2... . They never say by how much!

Thanks! I guess I'll have to leave torrents to download after 11:30pm. It's quite annoying though considering I can't get fibre optic yet and they're limiting my speed during peak hours.

Your Down Sync Speed of 3.6 Meg is about right. You have very long line. You might squeeze another 0.5 Meg if the Down NM reduces to 6dB (or less) by the DLM.

What is the "Time Connected" from top Status page? You might have too many errors depending on how long.

Thanks, would you tell me what DLM is please? I'd like to squeeze as much as I can!!

DLM = Dynamic Line Management, an auto system run at exchange side on your line to keep it as fast as poss whilst being stable.
