My EE broadband speed

Hi there,

I've been an EE subscriber for nearly a month and have noticed that my speeds are terrible compared to my previous O2 connection.

With O2 I would normally get 2260Kbps downstream, and after midnight if I power cycled the router I would get 3200Kbps, But with EE I am not even getting near 2000Kbps downstream at any time. I also think that my upstream rate with EE isnt 'balanced' i.e: too high.

EE told me I could get 3mb when they sold me the package!
( after midnight, with O2 i would have a stable 3200Kbps till around 9 a.m)

What do you make of theses stats?

I have monitored the connection since going live and I believe DLM has finished.
I live approx 3.5 miles from nearest exchange.
My previous O2 connection was rock solid stable at 2260Kbps for 4 years, so why am I now getting lower speeds?

Because of the 13dB Down NM. Need to tell Orange to stop constraining it.

Your Up sync is in fact too low. Should be higher on Fast Path but it itll find its own level.

DLM always runs. Thats its job.

How easy is it to get EE support to manually lower noise margins?

You should be getting about 5.5 Meg @ 6dB NM. Not convinced high NM accounts for all your 4 Meg deficit.

Can you get stats from hidden test socket? Removed ring wire? Any extensions? swap filters?

Those stats above ARE from the test socket, I never use the landline so its hardly ever plugged in.

I also removed the ring wire a long time ago, and I have one linked socket which has the Sky box plugged into a filter, and I have tested with and without the Sky box plugged in, to which there was no difference.

I have had a few people say I should be around 5.5 Meg during the years, but I have NEVER seen anywhere near that. The MOST I have seen my line reach is approx 4.2, which was in the first few days of my EE connection going live. And actually 4.2 Meg held stable for a few hours.

Today I have had problems with disconnections, here are the stats as of now

Yes, looks like NMs are free to roam and that wiring is sound.

could be high depending when you last re-synced.

Best to reboot, to clear error counts, and monitor the rate of increase of these errors against "Time Connected" from top Status page.

EDIT: try double filtering Sky Box.
