Re: Engineer called out, speed now cut in half?

Yes I believe the problem lies with the old master socket too.

I'll borrow a corded phone from work and try the test just to see what results I get thank you. smile

I've got a very similar problem, I was getting about 6Meg, immediatly after the engineer left a speed test gave me almost 8Meg, but now I'm getting 200k. I called EE and they said it takes some time for the fault to be fixed, but if I call back in two days time they can do something to magically fix it! Is that true?

Are you getting those stats from the test socket? Do you have any extensions? Have you disconnected ring wires?

That was from the only socket in the house, but I've now removed the faceplate, put the adsl dongle thing into the socket behind that, unplugged the landline from the other socket in the dongle and restarted the router.

Heres the new status after about 5 mins

No improvement! Proves there is some fault outside your domain that only Orange (and an eng) can fix. Someone has mucked up somewhere. You should not be getting such awful speeds.

Does corded phone work and is quiet? Try Quiet Line Test, dial 17070 Opt 2?

IP Profile for your line is - 0.25 Mbps
This is why your downloads are being limited to 25k
EE need to request a reset of your Profile

Rubbish! There's nowt wrong with the IP Profile. It's commensurate with the sync speed:
In reply to a post by thelem:
Downstream 283 (Kbps.)
It's the sync speed that is the culprit.
