Yes - went through this hoop way back in 2011. Orange's argument then seemed to be reasonable but the reduction in speed was not so marked.

In reply to a post by MrSaffron:
Has anyone mentioned banding to you?

A very common thing on EE, limit sync speeds to ensure a line is nice and stable, but seems to kick in with EE a lot more than other providers
The stats show a bad line.

Hi MrSaffron
I can't say that banding has been mentioned directly, but from what I understand about banded profiles it does seem to fit the situation. Are banding and capping essentially the same? And would EE customer/Tech support be able to see if my line has been banded/capped, and would they then be willing/able to remove it?

Back again....
Starting to get slightly annoyed with EE tongue
Managed to get through to tech support after a sales cold call from Orange - managed to talk the sales rep into putting me through on their call smile
Spent a while explaining why I thought there was an issue, and argued the point that I wasn't asking them to support my "unsupported" router, and ignored the comments from the tech op that bad connections "are often" due to "faulty" equipment. Tech then asked for my mobile number so he could disconnected the landline to run tests - I was on the way to collect mobile when line went dead. Not too surprised, I have left things to run for over a fortnight since then, checking on the line stats occasionally and rebooting the router twice in case things were sticking. End result - same as three months ago tongue
Sooo - do I try tech support again? Or do I call customer support and ask for a MAC - in which case, where do I go? Answers on a postcard please wink
