Has EE changed its DNS?

They used to default to 193.36.79.100 & 193.36.79.101. I had my router manually set to these but this AM it started to fail to load webpages. So I let the router get them from ISP and they came back as 87.237.17.166 & 87.237.17.198, so that now webpages load OK.

Coincidently this AM my router finally decided to upgrade itself to the latest security patch.

Has your DNSs changed? Are you getting failures with the 193. ones?

Wasn't there a time once when there were separate DNSs for ADSL1 & ADSL2+? Anybody remember the ADSL1 ones?

I had exactly the same happen to my connection yesterday morning; my router was manually set to 193.36.79.101 & 193.36.79.100 and it would not connect to the Internet. I tried for 30 minutes to get it to connect, then I thought I wonder if it is the DNS settings, was going to put in Google DNS but could not remember the settings, so then made it in the router (Obtain DNS from ISP) and it connected.

I wonder why they did that? FYI:

Orange DNS: 193.36.79.100 & 193.36.79.101
87.237.17.166 & 87.237.17.198
Open DNS : 208.67.222.222 & 208.67.220.220
Google DNS: 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4
Norton DNS: 198.153.192.50 & 198.153.194.50

I'm now using Norton to avoid adverts.

My router now has the settings, Primary DNS 87.237.17.200 Secondary DNS 87.237.17.168 have also entered this in the router manually, a search comes up as domain name Orange.co.uk

It's strange the previous DNS still don't work, maybe they have shut down the servers, yet they still give that DNS setting on their website.

If domain name server (DNS) addresses are required, use:
Primary DNS 193.36.79.101
Secondary DNS 193.36.79.100
