BrightBox and wakeup on LAN

I want to setup port forwarding to enable wakeup on LAN for one of my PCs. This works fine on the local network - so I know both the PC and the app are configured correctly. However when I try to do this remotely, nothing works.

I've tried setting up port forwarding (public port 9/local port 9 or public port 5909/private port 9, for example) but this doesn't work. The guides I've read suggest this should be sufficient but I've also seen posts that suggest the target IP address should be 192.168.1.255 (broadcast address) but the port forwarding page won't allow a value above 254.

Has anyone got this working and, if so, how?
