Sounds nice. laugh I'm just hoping my 5850 will run it OK. PC will definitely be the platform to play it on.

I have a 4850 and am thinking BF3 will be replacement time!

I got an i7 950, new mobo and 6 gig ddr3 last nov but held off the graphics card as black ops ran fine with it (for the 2-3 weeks I played it!). But I want BF3 running as well as it possibly can smile

After watching BF3 demos i assumed they were the PC version and thought they looked amazing, so this link was a surprising revelation.

ttp://www.computerandvideogames.com/306242/news/carmack-consoles-hampering-raw-horsepower-of-pcs/

BF3 and the other big titles are probably the exception mind, but it doesn't bode well for future releases.

Not really surprising, it's one of the reasons that GFX, and indeed gaming in general, haven't really come that far since the last time the big two released their consoles in what? 2005? That and cruddy controls.

Damn consoles ruining the industry tongue

Don't bother with WoW, although there is nothing wrong with the game, it's gotten more challenging over Woltk, but the same old problem exists, unless you can find 10 to 20 reliable players, you will get bored pretty fast as it's impossible to play on your own and even more impossible to play with idiots (which made me quit).

Damn consoles ruining the industry

It's a shame but it is all about the money I'm afraid. I still get the hump every time I see the games' console versions priced higher than it's PC counterpart. I'd vote with my feet, but I'm a gamerholic and PC phobic at the same time unfortunately! smile

That's one of the reasons I never understand why people continuously say console gaming is cheaper. If you buy a lot of games in a year, the savings from each game can pay for enough upgrades to keep your PC at a high enough spec to play most things well. Especially if you wait for a month or two after releases.

Well, as long as you are competent enough to do the upgrading I guess. My current rig is 2 years old, cost 650 (which was high because I replaced everything) and is more than powerful enough to run everything I've thrown at it, and will do for another 2-3 years before I will need to be upgrading the CPU/GFX. But maybe that's thanks to the poor quality of consoles wink

I can work on it to, and it has a decent control system smile

Consoles are more convenient, sure, but not as cheap as people seem to think.

I could probably manage to build it. I built one ten years ago and loved every minute of it. But then along came the family and put paid to the very little time I had spare anyway. Now I would be too lazy to upgrade anything!

I don't mind when they are working, it's the crashing and fixing I can't be bothered with. wink

Seriously, I can't remember the last crash I had, probably some dodgy memory in XP 8+ years ago!

OSs have come a helluva long way in the last ten years, takes a lot to break em these days smile
