Its been a long time coming but here is some Battlefield 360 FOOTAGE,
Game ships on 2 Disks unlike the Playstation Blu ray single disk, still undecided what to get this on regarding consoles as i have swapped and changed a few times due to the fact only PC and Playstation footage was previously shown which by Playstation standards is pretty rare as it normally get shafted with multi platform titles.
A few months back developers at Dice were saying the Playstation version is really sweet, would not mind betting when the game is nearer release date the tables are turned and the 360 version reigns supreme once again.

Yeah, but I've got a bigger willy than you.
Does it really matter to you that much that you feel the need to slag off the version you won't be buying? Here's an idea, why not review the one you will be buying instead?
It's a simple idea so it should suit you down to the ground.

This is exactly what i mean you put a post about Battlefields Xbox 360 footage for those with consoles that are in the dark and the PC crowd jump in telling us the obvious that the PC is the lead platform and consoles versions will be [censored].
Once upon a time many years ago there was a time when all games were developed on a PC and consoles were a after thought, but now in the future Consoles reign supreme and we all know Battlefield will look and play better on a fancy rig but console gamers don't care and enjoy the experience regardless of not having such high resolution and graphical capabilities and 500 players in a map [i mean 64 as opposed 24] .
Do you really think that that is going to ruin an otherwise great game, its the same with the Mouse and Keyboard v the control pad on consoles and how a FPS is better with those PC accessories, yeah when i was gaming on a PC they were wonderful but i easily made the switch to a Dual shock or xbox controller no problems what so ever.
I think PC gamers in general have a view that consoles have ruined game development because there have been quite a few posts in the past referring to this point.
Even if Sony and Microsoft released a new generation console next week we all are well aware that a super high end gaming rig will out perform both of them.
I think that there is a place in the market for both and you make the choice of what you prefer and thats down to personnel choice and preference regardless of what is more powerful than the other.
Even that argument is debatable on consoles because time and time again we are seeing news articles about how far superior the playstation is in terms of power compared to a 360 yet time and time again the xbox 360 produces the best versions of most multi platform games be it lighting, screen tear, draw distance, fps the 360 seems to dominate.

I think that's probably the crux of it mate.
And even if they are right (which I'm not qualified to comment on as I haven't ever really gamed on the PC), why would that be our fault ( console gamers that is)?

Consoles do nothing to improve gaming, dated systems that limit game development, all consoles prove to be is a cash flow to publishers to push out unfinished games at high prices.
Which the mindless masses keep buying each sucessive sequal at full price, paying to play online for the xbox fan boys, thinking there system is the best against other consoles.

So you are obviously just a PC gamer and don't do console gaming, may i ask if you have even tried playing certain games on consoles before you got to this decision .
Im interested at some more in depth feeling that you have because we have similar posters in the forum that seem a little frustrated at consoles and you can tell that they have a similar view to you regarding PC.
Some of your points are quite interesting like you say Consoles do nothing to improve gaming with dated system and limit game development .
Do you really think that consoles have had such a drastic effect on development of games, and me been one of the mindless masses along with another 500 million contributing to gaming downfall.
I have nothing against you and your views mate as long as you except that not everyone is interested in PC gaming anymore and companies like Nintendo,Sony,Microsoft are a business and thats where the Money actually is .
You and me both know 10 years ago everything that was game related was developed for a PC first and for most, now a decade later its the exact opposite and it aint my doing because i was happily playing some Wicked PC games at the time when the Console makers arrived.
Then as the consoles got established and the Millions of idiots [me included] or masses as you say joined the band wagon we found another way of enjoying gaming without upgrading a graphic card every few months,or buying more ram,or downloading a patch from a site ,or installing punk buster, then getting kicked out of a online game by punk buster, then when actually finding a decent online game it was full of hackers, and the list of problems associated with PC games is why the Masses in the first place jumped at the chance to play on consoles.

But on release they are usually there or there abouts in comparison.
Not everybody drives a Mercedes, and if they did they would not change it every 6 months when new features were added to the new model. Consoles have driven the huge rise in gaming, on and offline. It doesn't make them the best platform technically. But it says something about the preferences of people with busy lives. Most of the PC gamers I know are single, or have older families that don't command so much of their time.
But some of them feel the need to do nothing but knock the lack of functionality and mods on consoles, and come up with "real world" arguments as to why PC gaming should replace them. Then boast about their latest 18 hour gaming session.
Neither are really the point of a console.

Nota Bene [Latin], FWIW (For-What-It's-Worth): I may NOT agree as to why 'some' people prefer Consoles (barf, retch, ewww!), but I still respec' dem for it, (like lambs getting 'fleeced', it happens, but they're ok really).

When my kids are a little older and I could leave the damn thing next to the telly without getting fish fingers and two pence pieces stuck into the disc drawer, I would seriously think about it. I might then even have more time and inclination to embrace it.
The trouble is mate (unless I win the lottery in the meantime) if I had that sort of money laying about I would be buying a MAC.

Not everyone can afford to upgrade their PC every 6 months, or have better things to spend their money on. I would rather pay £130 for a console and then get my games for £30 - £35 as and when I want them rather than having to keep up with all the nerds buffing their PC's every 6 months, it's a sad world PC gamers live in

That isn't likely to help the debate to be fair.
Don't fall for the bait Jaxx. Real gamers respect gamers on any platform. PC gaming demands a lot more dedication technically than console gaming. And I haven't got that time. If I had I would seriously think about giving it a go.
Trouble is I love playing and recording music, so a "Mac" ( ) would have to come first for me. Mind you, by the time my kids leave home I probably won't be able to hold a guitar let alone play one!

That's fine if you want to play the same old cod for 6 years.
I haven't upgraded my pc for gaming in over a year, my 4870 still gives me the power to play games with much better than console graphics. The race has definitely slowed though, and I won't blame it on consoles surprise surprise. It is clearly getting a lot harder to squeeze more power out of the current designs and shrinking chips sizes are not full proof solutions as the fabs are having difficulty meeting the challenge.

Again, I fully agree with you. I'd try to assist people, as and when you can mate, but if they are too fu... set in their 'crepe attitude', or are fishing for arguments, why not just laugh at them - It makes it FUN, and can allow the [very good] people here a laugh.
It makes for a much happier forum, and upsets no-one. Much. Only those that can't actually ENJOY gaming (wierdos ).

My ZX Spectrum burned my dad's old telly. It left a couple of horizontal white lines across it as I recall. Oops!
The upside was the damage didn't or couldn't get any worse so using this logic, my argument was well, we're screwed anyway so might as well let me keep on gaming.
It wasn't long after that I was packed off upstairs with a new black & white portable, banished to the bedroom.

Can't remember the console but I had a game where a sprite that looked a bit like a motorcycle wizzed along the screen, disappeared off the edge then came back across on a lower level before appearing on the last level and then hitting a ramp and jumping over some boxes that were supposed to be buses. If you were skill full enough they added another box (bus) for your next attempt
Eddie Kid look out
Me and my cousin invested most of our time on this amazing of games

A few more replies to this thread, firstly ive played console games for a long time sega/PS1/PS2/PS3, i left console games as i got bored of them, each console upgrade a ton of old useless games.
Where people get the idea that pc gamers upgrade their rig every 6 months, is funny as its a minority who have too much money, most pc gamers will upgrade their rigs useually every 3+ years. Which isnt far off what the average life cycle of a console used to be.
As for bringing more people into gaming, the wii has proably done more then either the 360 or ps3 for bringing in the most new gamers of different age groups.
My first post was quite harsh, but for once its good to see the improvement between game versions to show how far consoles have fallen behind, pc gaming is there at the front to show what is possible and new.
Console is mainsteam and always will be, fifa round a friends house etc, though consoles and pc's are coming together quite fast, if you look at developements in consoles software features, wont be long till 'consoles disapear'
|
|
|
Consoles will never disappear my friend as they make 20 times more money than PC games,if anything the next generation consoles will dent the PC gaming industry even more as they will be more advanced in terms of memory,on board ram, processors, graphic capabilities.
This is a very long cycle for both the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 because normally we get next generation every 5 years and the 360 is some 7 years old and its time for a upgrade.
I think PC games look outstanding and i think there is a place for both in this world that we live in,consoles are just easier to get into and there basically right in your front room where all your entertainment is at your finger tips........Lets be honest most PC gamers that game are not in the front room all cozy and snug they are in some back room, office, attic completely out of the way.
I doubt very much the Wife or girlfriend would be very happy with some gaming rig wired up to the LED television.

If you mean they will be "console" by name only, then I agree with you. After the next generation is released I think a new approach will start to appear. With all that extra power I wonder where Sony will go?
MS have talked (or at least it is rumoured) about their intentions of crossover between the Xbox and PC platform. If you can game, do your homework and order the food shopping from tesco all from the TV but with proper windows type functionality, that would be a real step forward. And where Sony would compete with that on an OS basis is difficult to imagine if the current Playstation system is anything to go by.
But I still won't be happy until I can call mine Mr. Smith and order it to pay the gas bill for me.

To be honest all they need to do is add a browser - and suspect they will add HTML5 capable one to next xbox, look at Windows 8 - with its dual personality. I bet the one with no legacy is destined for the xbox in one form or another.
If they want to be taken seriously for cross-over, also need to supply a netbook sized keyboard and glide pad as standard with console.
