Choice to be made...

[link to this post]

I'm bored of my current games and want a new one - I know I want one of the following, but what do you think I should get?
Modern Warfare 3
Battlefield 3
Forza 4
F1 2011

Also, with the exception of Forza, what console should I get it on (xBox 360 or PS3)...

there not exactly the same, do you want to drive cars or fire guns tongue

For shooters BF3 seems pretty decent, MW3 is decent as well allbeit MW2 reskinned from what I`ve read.

Really depends on what games you like??

Can't I do both at the same time tongue
I do like a good shooter but I've played the demo for Forza which looks really good but I've also heard good things about F1 (and I've not played a F1 game for a while now)...

hmm, decisions decisions smile

Have you got f1 2010? If you do or have played it, then 2011 is like a update patch rather than a proper update.

Although I don't last long playing racing games, I do notice flaws right away, and f1 2011 has soo many that it makes it dull to play for me (things like messing around on the gears to under heat and over heat my engine had no impact on my race time, yet my tires and brakes randomly giving difference performance regardless of where I had been on the track, we meet again gravel pit).

BF3 has flaws too, but what is making me rage the most is my team just sitting staring at on coming attackers, it's like all the decent players left to play mw3, and I'm stuck with people that move the Amtrac into silly positions or drive my jeep away when I clearly parked it somewhere so they can drive off and hit a mine. :<

I'd go for Forza 4

There are some annoying bugs / features in F1 2011 and gets a bit boring after a while

You'd probably get more value for money with Forza 4 in terms of play time

I have all four mate and i would personally get them in this order:

Bf3 - Best shooter by a long way for a long long time!!!! (Sorry t2d).
Forza 4 - The best racing game ever no question.
Mw3 - Not bad but as said previously it's Mw2 revamped.
F1 2011 - Decent improvement on F1 2010and no shame in being last on the list seeing as what's above it!!
As for 360 or ps3 is all down to personal preferance, obviously psn is free but comes with it's compromises imho.

My choice would be .......

Duke Puke em Forever ................mad Only kidding as it's the worse game this generation.

How about the new Zelda next week which will be a touch of class,or for a laugh Saints Row the 3rd or Assassins Creed Revelations

I bought Skyrim and for me its just to dam deep and way over my head and i have not got the patience, really don't see what people like in these games as I'm bored already and why they rave about the graphics is beyond belief .

Modern Warfare 3 for me all the way [Sorry Jorkilla] but if you want a OAP game at a far slower pace then its Battlefield 3 [sorry again Jorkilla].

There are plenty of older pensioners playing it with fading eye site like Spook, Mr Grumpy ,Swanny and a fair few others from these very forums.

In fact they have a clan i think called Battlefield pensioners United wink its slow well suited to players that have not got the reflexes of days gone by and when you rank up you get better walking sticks, and powered wheel chairs to get you into the action quicker smile

But if you prefer a much faster activity then its MW3 matey wink

Haha! You funny man.

Skyrim is a great game. Shame you have the patience and willpower of a gnat. We all knew it would be a bad idea for you to get it.

BF3? Well, again if you had a bit of sense you'd try it again but put your head down, like I said, and give it a fair go.

I like the idea of improved walking sticks and eye tests. Battlefield OAP! Yes, and we could have electric mobility scooters also. Maybe the MW3 crowd could use their nappy pins to stab each other with? And dirty nappies could be stink bombs. You could all have prams to run around in and throw your milk bottles at one another. wink

Bf3 and slow couldn't be further from the truth t2d, it's probably the fastest playing bf game to date and i truely beleive you'd be pleasantly surprised.
True the beta was absolute and utter garbage but boy is the full release different, go on give it a go!!!

The post was meant to be on the humorous side wink but i like the idea Spook of going round stabbing people with big nappy pins and i hope we get a patch for that one.

Skyrim may well be a really great game Spook I'm not saying its not but they are just not for me as they require to much talking and exploring,on the other hand so does Zelda but for some strange reason i just adore those games and always have the patience to complete them.

Jorkilla im glad you thought the beta was Pants because thats the reason i ditched this game as i could not see it been any different, may be one day when I'm bored stiff i may try it but having not liked previous games then I'm in no rush especially when there is so much out.

Metro in real game is nothing like the beta, better textures and the glitching appears gone (XBox that is)

Breaking into the tunnel system is fun, and worthy of any of the MW3 choke points.

Even the tanks have a boost (sprint) button now smile

Metro is awesome, it is a very frantic level, trying to hold point B on Conquest is a logistical nightmare but if you do it and have either A or C you can keep it locked down nicely. Same with Grand Bazaar that level is very fast paced on Conquest, trying to keep the Alleyway when you have an RPG zipping past your ear every 2 seconds is pretty tough.

T2D, I told you about Skyrim lol my exact words I believe were do you have the patience for this, but I suppose you have to at least give it a go to see if it's your thing but we all know you pretty well now and know you like bright colours moving fast with little to no thought involved, have you tried Mario Kart? wink

Ho Ho Jaxx wink

Actually i enjoyed Mario Kart Briefly like a lot of games they have to be classics for me to finish them and you you guessed didn't finish this one either.

I new also Jaxx that Skyrim would be to deep for me and a very long game with much to do but you have to have a go when a game like this gets such fantastic reviews.

Suppose i like blowing things up and killing things and thats why i like MW and silly games like Saint Row The Third.

If Skyrim was the only new game and there was no others on the horizon and no MW then i dare say i would persevere with it a lot more.

Turns out my girlfriend has bought me MW3 so that can be crossed off the list smile
I've just picked up F1 2011 as I haven't played any F1 games for ages. I tried the Demo of Forza, thought it was good but still a bit too arcadey so am happy enough with GT5.
Battlefield 3 can wait for a little while...

To the other suggestions - Skyrim isn't my sort of game and I never really got on with Saints Row. LoZ I would love to play, but I have one issue - no Wii smile

Yeah mate, I understood the humour. I was laughing hard but my own response did not come across as it was intended so well. It was a gentle mickey take but sounded a bit too scolding which was not intended at all.

The nappy pin idea is all right I thought. Can imagine plucking people's eyes out with it.

Jorkila is right about BF3. Some maps are fast and frantic and there's little reliance on armoured vehicles overall (which is a shame as I'm great in a tank!). You'd love some of the more infantry based maps and there's plenty of modes like squad deathmatch that might work better for you and rush.

Skyrim is pretty tedious in terms of listening to the NPCs drivel on about their circumstances. Like I give a toss? Just tell me what you want me to do and let's get on with it! It's a godsend that you can skip sections of dialogue and cut to the chase. I used to use the subtitles for this purpose as you could be sure you wouldn't miss anything important.

I played Skrim till gone 3am this morning and only had 4 hours sleep. I'm going back in in a minute so if you don't hear from me in a while it'll be because I've died of exhaustion! Still a way off from that I think as I think I will be going to bed early tonight!

Nothing wrong with your response or humour mate keep it coming as i love a little forum banter.

Yourself and Jorkilla are doing a fine job in convincing me to take the plunge here regarding battlefield 3, i was tempted by Assassins tomorrow but that is not exactly getting fantastic reviews .

Saints Row and Zelda end of the week and Wednesday i might just go out and get Battlefield 3 because i know that i would enjoy it far more than Skyrim but never as much as MW3 .........

If it played like the limited amount of time i spent with the Beta [about 2 minutes] then it will be another waste of money, but then again I've done quite a bit of that this year alone.

From the few i have seen its getting like 3/5 and 7/10 saying its just the same as the previous game.

But i just had another look at most are quite high scores with the occasional below average one.

I hope it's good, I loved the previous AC games and Brotherhood was actually my favourite, the multiplayer aspect was different and fun and I really enjoy the story in the games. I also think the colours are beautiful, you can really get involved in the game and just lose yourself in how amazing it looks. Unfortunately I have asked the GF to get it me for Christmas so it looks like it will be another 6 weeks before I get my mits on it frown

Sounds frustrating! Fortunately I don't get these problems as everytime I play it is with my housemate and usually the 2 guys that live next door so we just squad up and play together all night. The few times I have played alone I haven't found any decent players to really squad with, nor anyone using a mic so it can be a bit of a drag.

Even with a support guy in squad and on voice comms the <squad> ammo perk is a must as it allows you to be semi independent when necessary without coming unstuck. I am levelling the F2000 and it so easy to chew through your ammo with that rate of fire!

It was nice last night when I popped across the end of one of the side tunnels on damavand peak (conquest) and 4 enemy ran out at the same time. The first guy didn't shoot and the other 3 probably couldn't see properly (or at least aim at me past the first guys' head) and 30 bullets from my F2000 later and I had a nice multi kill message appear on my screen and was 4 kills better off laugh

[edit]I must say that I am constantly amazed at people who don't/won't drop ammo/health. I haven't played support yet but with assault I drop health all over the place. Sometimes you don't need it and don't get any heals but it is nice that a pack you dropped 15-20 secs ago suddenly results in 20 point heals coming up on your screen smile [/edit]

Haha that sounds awesome, I love it when things like that happen! I love the F2000, it's brilliant on Metro as well on Conquest when you have B and you are looking down the escalators in front of you and you have the steps to the left leading down to the trains. If you have a good firefight on the go and decide you want to be brave just jump down there and open fire and watch the kills pop in smile

In regards to heals, I don't know why people don't do it more often, according to BF3 stats site I have done 13,405 heals now lol as the majority of these are squad heals as well that is a lot of points smile Do you guys all set attack and defend orders a swell on flags to get the additional points? I notice a lot of people don't do that when I play with the random public.

Yes, we always move to an empty squad and then get the orders going. It is free points for the tiniest amount of effort and with people of a similar ability it can often be the difference between MVP and MVP2. But either way it raises the whole squad up, not just the SL

As above when I'm squad leader I always call in the flags.
I have noticed that with the specializations you can have either your own one or one for the squad but not both. As I'm nearly always an engineer I use the EXPL specialization. I'm only level 25 at the mo so can't have the squad EXPL until I get to 31. If I use squad ammo when I get to 26 I lose my extra mines etc

Also I don't think the communicate (select on PS3) button works when calling for ammo or a lift, either that or they all ignore me frown

It's because:

I has my bipod down and if I want to throw my ammo box I have to redeploy my bipod.

ps ammo boxes have very short limited life spans unlike their healing counter parts.

Yup EXPL is awesome, squad EXPL is even better but like you say a bit further along wink 10 RPG's and 6 mines yes please haha!

Yea I often press the offer healing button but randoms don't listen so mainly heal my squad and the general public when they notice their health is going up and stick around for a few seconds lol
