Far Cry 3 does it live up to my expectations.....Oh yeah!!!!

[link to this post]

So what dropped through the letterbox this morning.........Far Cry 3.

Since i have raved on about this game for the past 3 or 4 months i could not resist the temptation of having a quick go,2 hours later having completed 1 simple mission objective and skinning a few animals here are a few thoughts and impressions.

The game is absolutely amazingly Brilliant and i can see this taking me until Christmas just to complete it because the map is massive and there are so many objectives and side quests its unreal.

I have done the very first Radio Tower that opens up a small section of the map and had a few gun fights with the local pirates,I have no weapons ,no power ups and limited cash and just starring at the vast options in the menu and enjoying the beautiful environments is something of a revelation.

I have not touched 1% of this game because the Island is absolutely beautiful to look at and explore in its own right regardless of main story mission and side quests,Radio towers and pirate strongholds .

The game impresses me so much in the small amount of time spent playing it i really think once i have acquired some meaty weapons and got into it a little bit more I'm guessing its going to blow me away in which it does already having basically done nothing.

Skinning animals is very much Red Dead Redemption and the amount of customisation is so vast i have not quite got my head round it all yet.

Graphics are brilliant but i would not call them mind blowing, but the feel and the way the games plays out you know you have a quality FPS with at least 30/40 hours in single player alone if you want to find and do all thats on offer.

This is the game i have been waiting for for the last 12 months and without question will be my Game of the Year for sure.

More to come without spoilers when i have progressed more through this Gaming delight...smile

Great I'm even answering my own posts.......Seriously where has everybody gone ?

Anyway played another few hours tonight and its just a awesome game, hardly done a thing as far as story goes because in this game you can spend 30 minutes just skinning animals and collecting plants to make potions.

Really need to seek out some more radio towers that open up more of the map,but its not important because there is so much to do in the small section of the map already.

Tell you something else the Ai are some of the best i have seen in a FPS and this game is no stroll in the park, highly
aggressive and a severe challenge even when there are only 4 or 5 of them.

Obviously as i rank up and open up some better fire power and perks it could get a little easier.

This game is probably the first game in 12/18 months that i could literally sit up all night and play without question and seriously i have to drag myself away from it.

So a recap is I've played about 4 hours and done virtually nothing, think i have opened to 2/18 radio towers and completed 2 main missions and took a few pirate camps..............Nothing.

But who cares when a game looks and plays like this.wink

Games getting some amazing Reviews

Thats the 4th perfect score and even got a 10 from Eurogamer which is virtually unheard of

Its Game of the Year for sure Swanny and a quality AAA product.

Not seen anything funny yet but its pretty ruthless .

What is brilliant the fact that there is a lot of value in this product and you can spend a couple of hours playing it and virtually do and complete very little, that says something about the quality of the game in question.

It even surpasses my expectations and its easily in my top ten favourite games of all time and i have hardly done anything in it.

Rook Island is the most drop dead gorgeous setting in this vast open world FPS ,along with Vaas the villain this is the star of the show .

I have never Played a FPS that looks as fantastic as this even on ageing hardware.

Swanny my friend wink

Listen to what you have just said..........Sorry Battlefield 3 is game of the year.

It may well be your personal choice for your game of the year but to come to that conclusion firstly you have to have played both of the games in question and as of this minute you haven't have you smile

But i have and i think Battlefield as a FPS type war game is very good and i think the multiplayer shines very brightly, but as a single player experience its very drab and shallow and in Far Cry 3 case this easily is the best single player fps experience you can get and totally blows this section of battlefield back to kingdom come tongue

Again played this for about 10 hours and i find it virtually impossible to turn of,a rare treat indeed when playing games of today.

You have convinced me to buy back Battlefield at some stage though with the release of the new map pack you talk so highly about, but for now I'm in Gaming heaven

[re: deleted] [link to this post]

Well all i can say reference Far Cry 3 is it the most intense exhilarating experience i have had with a game for as long as i care to remember.

Anyone that Bad mouths this game on this superbly rendered open ended Island and superb action with so much to do and see in my opinion does not know what a fantastic game really is.

This is Open ended FPS Shooter heaven of the finest quality and without doubt is the number 1 contender for game of the year, nothing comes close to this game this year based on what it actually is.

A massive FPS,come rpg based on what has to be the best designed Island ever to be created in a game of this type.

Ubisoft developers deserve as much praise as possible for delivering what i consider to be a FPS gaming masterpiece,I'm some 15 hours with this game and bet i have not completed 20% of whats on offer, every little section i open from the radio masks/towers that open up more story missions, side quests, mini quests, hunting, assassination targets, the list to do is endless.

I actually played it for some 5 hours tonight and all i achieved was a few radio towers ,skinned and killed a lot of animals and cleared a few camp sites of pirates so i could fast travel around the island a little more.

Just hunting a particular skin and finding that animal sometimes requires stealth and a cunning play requirement ,i love the way that the skins of certain animals you craft gives you bigger wallets, ammunition, weapon pouches and so on and so on.

I can not speak any highly of this game and when i eventually complete it and its a game i will complete no doubt about it i will play it over and over again because of its quality.

What a Game...........Masterpiece smile

And the first time in a long time T2D is contented and has fell in love with Gaming once again.

Ubisoft has set not only a high standard for Far Cry 4 but a standard so high there are very few developers out there that will match there achievement .

This is one of those rare gems that will never ever get traded and i doubt it will be beaten for a mighty long time but for now Christmas has come early for me and this game has me compelled from the moment i load it and not for one instance do i ever get bored with it..........

And he's exceptionally quiet too, like a baby sucking on a particularly satisfying dummy. wink

It's time to wake the contented little blighter up though. Hey you! T2D! Are you still with us? How's Far Cry 3 going I want to ask?

Why? Cuz I just got me a copy and guess where from? Yes. That's right. Amazon! Nah... Only jokin'! I got a copy from... [drumroll] - ShopTo.net! Yeah. Amazin' eh? So, why I do that? Amazon don't have it in stock. And they're evil. They don't like paying taxes apparently. But they're also ever so handy. It's a tricky world we live in, ain't it? Damned if you do. Damned if you don't. Like sugar. And chocolate. And beer!

So, I just installed the game on my PC. Now I've gotta enter the Product Key and hope the game launches without too many crashes. Wish me luck.

laugh

Edit. Just hit play and we're now downloading the 1.01 farcry3 patch. It's 270806232 bytes big but I don't know what that is in megabytes. 270 megs maybe? I hopeless at this. Now verifying download. Looks good. Now what? Oh. There's a box underneath and it wants me to run the patch installer. Here we go again then.

Edit 2. Well, I survived. Patch installed. Starting Uplay? Oh my gosh. Not more junkware.

Here's the patch details in case anyone's interested:

----------------------------------------------
Release note PC patch 1.01
----------------------------------------------

----------------------------------------------
Multiplayer fixes for the patch:
----------------------------------------------

General:
- Improved overall Multiplayer stability and performance.
- Added SHOW TOP, SHOW YOU, PAGE UP and PAGE DOWN options in Leaderboards.

- Lobby chat can now be accessed when a controller is connected

Co-op:
- Fixed graphical issues on loading screen hints.
- Fixed the issue that would prevent maps from being displayed or randomized the first time a user enters Public Co-op.
- Health regeneration option no longer has inverted functionality.
- "Flare gun" kills are no longer considered as Assist kills.

PVP:
- Fixed ground texture resolution.
- Grass surrounding fire spawns no longer remain red on Firestorm maps.

Map Editor:
- Improved white objects thumbnails legibility.
- Users can now start a private match in 1 player on user created maps.

----------------------------------------------
Single Player fixes for the patch:
----------------------------------------------

- Improved game stability and performance.

- Fixed small UI glitches related to different display resolutions.
- Weapon cache mission: Mission Zone and Mission Marker no longer stays on mini-map and on screen after mission completion.
- Crafting items are now auto selected when entering a new crafting category
- Added sound when zooming in and out the camera with the mouse scroll button.

Ah crxp! I have to create a freakin' Uplay account or access an old long forgotten one. Life is soooo complicated...

Edit 3. Recovered an old account. Had to reset password. Enter captcha thing (twice). Turn off anti-tracking addon. Do the whole thing again to allow cookies. And we're done. Let's try logging in with the newly created password then shall we?

Edit 4. Oh, you're joking! After selling my soul back to Ubi and forever locking my product code with them so I can't ever resell the game, I see they've got some clever point reward system in place where I can unlock content they've created for the game but no doubt want to charge me for. And there's ANOTHER patch! This one is 269141552 bytes or I'm guessing, 269 megabytes! Just as well I've got a generous download allowance. You need it when you're a gamer it seems.

Edit 5. Anyone interested in the patch details. Here you are:

One of the greatest ever open world FPS i have ever played,i posted my thoughts and impressions of the game last week mate but nobody has really made much of a comment and seem content in rambling on about that old game called Battlefield or something tongue

Its been about 3 years since i last struggled to turn of a game because this game is drop dead gorgeous and breathtaking at times, yes on consoles it has some frame issues, screen tearing and a few minor bugs but when games are this good who cares.

According to my stats i have been playing it for 18 hours, finished about 5 of 13 of the story missions, completed about 11/18 of the radio towers and cleared about 10/35 of the pirate campsites......

The game seems to amaze me everytime i play it and the sheer size of it and the fact you can play for about 3 hours and accomplish nothing is astonishing but brilliant.

And when the day comes when i do finish i am going to delete the game save and enjoy this marvellous game all over again until my eyes bleed.

Enjoy a gaming masterpiece Spooky as you and your super duper high end PC and all the downloads and patches have the ultimate edition.

Re: Where am I?

[re: time2die] [link to this post]

Glad you're enjoying it Timey. I've been playing the game solid since I installed it just to give it a workout mind. Need to check it's okay.

It's all right. I've been skinning half the jungle and I'm about a step away from most maximum ammo etc holding upgrades. Need to find me some damn dingoes and some more leopards.

To be perfectly honest, although the graphics are pretty decent they take some getting used to. I have them on high for all. But as I'm getting a decent framerate I'm gonna bang a couple up to ultra to see what happens.

I'm playing on average difficulty settings and now I've finally worked out how to switch guns, I'm finding it a lot easier. The enemy AI is a bit strange. Those guys are really fast and try to outflank you but they're all a bit stupid. Some great game modes though - like shooting as many enemies as you can in a given time limit. Reminds me a lot of the earlier Far Crys and Just Cause 2. Far Cry 2 had some breathtaking scenery for the time. This game's mechanics are far better though.

Gotta say, GOTY for me is gonna be Skyrim (again). Okay, it's a better game really but yeah, FC3 is safely the best game I've bought this year I think. Wanna get that Lego: LoTR game though.

Good to see you're still enjoying it T2D. Have you had a go at hand gliding yet? I've concentrated mainly on levelling my character up so he can carry more so I've only unlocked a few radio towers and pirate camps. I like the boats though. And killing sharks. I was attacked by a crocodile actually and it frightened the life out of me. I managed to turn him into a nice pair of shoes though so it was lucky I had my knife ready. Not done many main story quests yet but I must've done about 5 too I reckon. Love driving around though. Nice scenery but I prefer the original Crysis still. That game was so ahead of itself.

Yeah having a machine gun with 60 bullets just about clears out a small campsite and like you i have crafted many ammo pouches and other stuff.

You may have to go into a area of the map you have not opened Spook to get dingo pelts because i only came across dingos after about 16 hours and well into highlighting the map area.

I think i have only about 7 skills to acquire now and i have yet to see multiplayer.

Don't you just love the look of this Rook Island though Spook, what a marvellous spectacle and fantastic design work we have here.smile

Weird i finished it tonight after about 26 hours even though i only completed about 6/13 of the story i managed to get to the end of the game.

There were about 4 radio towers i missed out on and god knows how many pirate camps......about 20 i did not do.

Saying that you can then go explore the island once the credits role which took about 20 minutes as there were 1000s of people listed ....

Think i will start all over with a new game save and go for 100% completion and play a little different this time around...............Absolutely blood marvellous as Gary Barlow would say.

Now its not comical like Battlefield mate tongue

Just one superb, awesome game that don't come around to often and if and i guess they will develop Far Cry 4 and its on next generation consoles which it will be,then we have the potential to be one of the greatest games ever made based on Far Cry 3 .

This Game has put my faith back in gaming and its up there in my top 5 of the greatest games i have ever played.even now with my second play through i am seeing things that i don't recall seeing before which is kind of strange as they are the adverse weather effects.

One minute bright sunny weather then next pouring down with rain,i think its based on how long you actually spend at a particular place because the first 25 hour play through i only saw night/day.

Anyone got this for Christmas is in for some gaming heaven smile

Been there done that when i had a PC mate, lets not compare xbox to PC because we all know which will look better, but Far Cry 3 looks well nice enough on a 6 year old console and if specs are to be believed about the future xbox console then its going to be like having a very high end PC without all the hassle.

Until the spec is released its all rumours but like the current consoles it wasnt brand new and got old very fast but thats just the development of hardware- the red ring will still be about.

FC3 will eventually drop in price, as i mentioned above Christmas will help it keep its price but like all games they get cheap- i picked up Dishonored for 11 pounds.

Better in my opinion. Far Cry 3 cons you with a lot of visual trickery to make you think the landscape is way bigger than it truly is. Also, none of that irritating 'leaving mission area' [censored] you get in Far Cry 3!

Buy it and find out for yourself, best game i have played in years........Period.

And you know me Swanny i am extremely critical of most games that get released.

The reviews speak for themselves mate, this game has had some outstanding reviews and Metacritic is where you want to look to get a balanced opinion.

You will always find negativity never mind how good a game is but Far Cry 3 is a gem of a game and turned out to surpass even my high expectations .

Swanny you sometimes have to broaden your horizons and try and get that Battlefield Game out of your head, personally if you don't enjoy it i will be surprised because like i said its one of the best single player FPS games i have ever played, not touched the multiplayer as I'm half way through a second play through because i just love this game.

Im guessing you have watched the videos as i know you would not have bought it if it did not appeal.

Oh contrare lesser mortal!

I have tried and trusted techniques to avoid such chores, but timing is crucial. Shortly after she leaves the house, I will text her asking what time she expects to be home as I have received a call out. I then pop out to get a coffee shortly before her ETA and return half an hour later in my work apparel.

The favourite tip however, is spraying water on dried up morning dog sick in the hallway, a few minutes prior to her return from work. On hearing her disappointed tone on discovery, I bowl down the stairs with statements like "It wasn't there a moment ago" or "I'll grab your bags while you clean your shoe." wink

I played it for about 3 hours last night. It's quite good fun but seems a bit childish
At this moment I rate UC3 as the better game but maybe it will grow on me
One grumble is that dead animals are sometimes impossible to find, I killed about four dogs but could only find one.

Yeah it should have said Far Cry 3 Battelfields and im sure you would have enjoyed it more.........

Games a Dream and i can not find any fault with it,as for childish? well that has to be the most ridiculous thing i have heard regarding this game.

Story is brilliant,Characters are brilliant, gameplay is brilliant, the vast Rook Island is Beautiful and the fps aspects are a breath of fresh air.

Dead Animals impossible to find.......Are you kidding me or what ? Specsavers have a boxing day sale and so does vision express and boots the opticians.........Now if you can find any of these then im sure they will set you up with a new set of glasses with bottle nose lenses wink

Jeez Swanny the games a masterpiece, but if anyone was going to complain then my money would have been on you for sure.

3 hours play equates to about 2% so you have basically seen and done nothing,go take some radio towers,do some health trips, take some pirate bases, search for some relics, hidden letters, upgrade all your Packs in the crafting department and use your binoculars for targeting animals and pirates.

One of the biggest problems for FC3 is the missions are on rails, have to do it a certain way unlike the free to roam world- is a let down in that aspect.

I got a copy on ps3 for a family member so will try it out- though if its half decent ile just buy on the pc as its better for fps.

When I kill animals they flash slowly so you can see the carcasses, but I think I know what you are doing wrong. If you kill two goats and then chase the third one up a mountain, it can be extremely difficult to find the other two, because as timey says, it is easy to get lost in such a large area

I quite like it although I played for two hours without saving, died and now have to start again, doh! It feels exactly like dead island in it's handling. I do feel the frame rate is awful on the ps3 though. Perhaps the 360 is much better in that regard. i can imagine it looking fantsatic on the PC.

UC3 is by far the "classier" production, no doubt about it, and Borderlands 1 and 2 handle far better. But I really like this game. I know I am going to have to give it a good 4-5 hour session to really get the feel for it, but it really has me wanting to play it. It's just the flipping wife and kids keep getting in the way!

Gonna try and give it a couple of hours now. Come get some piggy. wink

Me neither. I'm unlocking as many radio towers as I can first.

It looks lovely at times and it is a brilliantly designed island. What I don't understand is why the visuals can be so bad so suddenly. I doubt it's running at more than 20 frames most of the time. The pop up isn't really noticeable to be fair, but that frame rate is annoying.

Great fun though. Tips so far. Don't try to kill a whole group of baddies at once by crashing a hand glider into them and don't let an ostrich creep up behind you while you are laying C4 two feet in front of the Galapagos tortoises. wink

Now only do the main missions occasionally and make sure you do the radio towers and the base camp on that particular area of the map.

Concentrate on the parts of the map that open up when you climb the radio towers, occasionally you may not find the animal you require in the map until you explore and open up other areas.

And as mrnelster says there are some times when the frame rate is poor and there are glitches, but it has not spoiled the game for me but imagine this game on a next generation console or as mrnelster says a high end PC .

Without doubt mate. I like the way you can drop into the online challenges aswell, though I've only done one so far. Handling could be much tighter, but how many times have we said that about games?

Content wise it's the nads. My current play pattern is simple. Activate tower, deathslide down to the waiting hanglider, cruise as close as possible to the next one, jump off and repeat. Whilst doing that the animals' territories are highlighted as you open each map, so you know where to look for them. You can even set waypoints to the animals you require.

It's pretty difficult taking out the bad guys. There always seems to be 3 + 3, so you need decent guns. There is no point in trying to take down camps without crafting bigger slings and wallets first, IMHO anyway. I have the first sniper rifle now which makes life easier. Once its all mapped out and I have full ammo carrying capability, then Vaas is gonna get it.

Not sure where I am and don't really care either! I'm just enjoying trying to take all the outposts silently without being noticed. I guess I'll have to do some missions to open stuff up though. I quit last night before saving madam from the burning building. It's odd because in the Uncharted games in 3rd person I really enjoy the story led objectives. After running round this island for a few hours, saving liability Lil feels like a real chore. I just want to keep exploring.

It is the complete opposite of its predecessor, that I turned off after an hour. Frame rate aside (and I'm amazed you haven't noticed it confused), timey is right. This game is a gem and I am completely lost in it at the moment. smile

I played it solid for 3 weeks and still i can not stop playing it,on my 3rd play through and still have not touched multiplayer.

Times like this i wish i was a PC gamer because this game even though i think its awesome would have been a visual treat on a high end PC .

Glad you are liking it mrnelster, have you ranked up and tried some of the various skills like killing a pirate and using his knife to kill another one,or killing a pirate and pulling his grenade and kicking him into other pirate or a vehicle and watching the awesome explosion.

And Buck is even better than Vaas as a Character and the Island is beautiful and has to have the best design of any game i have played, like mrnelster says i can get lost just wandering around the island spending hours doing virtually nothing but the odd tower or camp,so much to do and explore.

I even enjoy doing the [forgot what they are called] red rock quests [tasks] like running over pirates with the vehicle required or killing as many as you can in a particular time limit........Awesome stuff

Just played the first 3 missions in co-op on the ps3, i now remember why i hate shooters on consoles.

Recoil/damage is all over the place with most of the guns- have to empty a clip to kill someone at close range- best way of clearing out is have one player go with the assult rifle and nades and the other with the nade launcher and molitov's as the expolsives make short work of the AI- infite ammo from the ammo points.

Only real proablem is snipers and rpg's as most guns at range are pretty poor with the hit detection- though even close range you can spray and get a headshot.
Since you cannot die its quite funny when you rush in to revive your teammate and then get the game wanting to reload your weapon as reload/revive are both square- then to knife a enemy and finally heal yourself.

Ive got the game on PC so will try out single player and prehaps the multiplayer online- hopefully its alot more reedeming the console version which didnt look great.

If you have played just consoles for years then Far Cry 3 on the system is as sweet as a nut and as good as it can be on ageing systems.

I have not played the PC version so i don't care as i think it looks just fine on a 360,obviously on a high end PC there would be no comparison .

I got it for Christmas too and absolutely love it, it's a very good game. I would agree with the comment someone made earlier (sorry forgot who it was) about losing animals once killing them. I did a hunter task that was to kill 5 deer with a sniper, I only found the body for 2 of them! I was looking exactly where I killed them, but the problem is the bodies slide down the hills / mountains and then they seem to just disappear sometimes, really odd but not a massive deal..... just means I need to wait a bit longer to make my new gun pouch frown

I think they have done a great job of not making it repetitive, there are so many different things to do like the towers, outposts, rakyat challenges, hunter challenges etc. you can play for a few hours and have a very varied experience throughout. Top class game smile

Did i say mate that i bought the game again with all the expansion packs included, mind you it did cost like £40 or something from game a couple of weeks before Christmas.

To be honest swanny i have not touched anything but Far Cry 3 since 30th November because as you have guessed i just love this game so much.

If they released this like they do Cod every year i would be very happy gamer, but class games don't come around that often.

As for Black Ops 2 then i might as well have left the wrapper on because its either me getting older and wiser and less patient because i just don't like this game anymore and i really think Treyarch have not really added anything to this franchise and its become stale and boring.

Next November with whats left of Infinity Ward/Sledgehammer Games i will be watching closely and unless its absolutely mind blowing and more than likely on a next generation xbox/playstation then i wont be buying it.

Basically after playing Far Cry 3 for me anyway...........Not a lot comes close, and Black Ops is just a few weeks/days away from been traded as its just collecting dust.

Like i said Swanny Battlefield has a lot more depth than Black Ops and most Cods and i admit its a good game, after all your constant banter regarding the game for the past 12 months made me reinvest in it once again even though i have yet to play it.

Mind you have have downloaded all the updates and map packs that took vitally 3 hours on the 360,but thats about as close i have come.

Im sure in time i will revisit the Battlefield game, saying that there is a lot of games out in the next few months and Shopto.net has many of my pre/orders already.wink

To be fair Swanny battlefield is extremely addictive online and I agree with you because it has far more to give than black ops or recent cod games.

Only the first modern warfare for me burns a bright shining light and since then I have become less and less bothered with cod games in general.

Just out of interest, would you invest in a next generation console in 2013, rumour has it there will be a new Xbox whatever they call it but doubts about a new play station until 2014 .

It's just gossip and we could see both this year or neither, would you buy a new Microsoft console if Sony were to hold back or would you wait for a new playstation .

That never really bothers me, I live with a friend who is a massive gamer too so we both play a lot of single player games and he is into very different games to me so it's interesting chatting away while we are playing on our consoles. I tend not to play too many multiplayer games anymore, I just organise a night when all my friends can come round and have a session on BF, but I am losing my love for MP in most other games. It always just seems pretty terrible, although I do love the multiplayer in Assassins Creed!

I'll very probably wait and go for the ps4. The xbox seems to be the choice of teenagers but I do prefer the xbox controller. Plus bill gates is an asrehole. smile

I really don't get the Xbox controllers. And I mean really, really. That's why I could never buy the console.

Oh God, I've resisted this for several weeks... I have Far Cry 1 and 2 on my PC and haven't played either of them, but what with T2D's orgasm over FC3 and the trailer on Steam, I've been looking at this over Christmas and finally weakened and bought it: the spirit wants to resist, but the flesh is OH SO weak smile

It's downloading now and in a few moments, I shall be diving in... I may be some while!

If you don't think its pretty special and awesome mate then pack up gaming and go play Ka/plunk wink

Far Cry 1 was good on a high end PC but Far Cry 2 became a tedious Chore ,Far Cry 3 is a Masterclass in How to make a Gorgeous looking open ended game on a beautiful drop dead gorgeous island with so much to do which will take you many hours/days to finish and then you will want to do it all over again .

Enjoy smile

Don't see the point in having both Far Cry 1 and 2 on your PC and the fact you never played them, was they free downloads or something or you are not that keen on FPS.

Hahahaha

Well, Far Cry 1 was always beyond my PC when it was first released, then picked it up for £4, never got around to looking at it, there was always something else come along... FC2 came along and again, always something just a bit flashier... WELL keen on FPS, just always something new smile

But the trailer for FC3 and your posts have convinced me, just firing it up now smile

Let me know what you think because I'm intrigued at your views and I am guessing you have a nice fully loaded PC to see this game how it was meant to be.

On consoles it has some frame rate issues bought to my attention from me matey mrnelster, since upgrading our tv to a 55inch monster they have become more apparent.

But I just adore this game and my only gripe would be that this would have been a dream on a next generation console.

When games like this come along you need some serious power and the playstation 3 and the Xbox 360 are well past there sell by date.

Well finally got round to installing FC3, played about 5 hours so far done a few misions/towers/camps etc but mainly been working on the animal skins to upgrade capacity for weapons/kit etc.

One thing with the game you have to wonder is if you are actually playing AC3, rather then FC3 as theirs alot of shared ideas- ie hunting misisons/skinning animals/ arial taketowns etc.

Its a okay game though im glad i paid under 25 for it as its not worth more then that, going to pretty easy to complete.

Also fire in FC2 was so much better- it just neede more animals and fast travel inside the middile of the map.

Did not like AC3 but i love Far Cry 3 wink

2 open ended game worlds so there is going to be a few things that are the same especially since it from the same developer.

The only think i think is the same is the skinning of animals which was actually very similar to Red Dead Redemption more than AC3.

Well finished FC3 ending was quite poor, would have rather had Vass stay alive till the end and have Hoyt kill Citra, then Hoyt is killed by Broody & co- final fight would be between Vass and Broody.

Overal the game i give it a 6/10- Alot of reused content from different titles, AI quite poor, bases are easy to take with little difficutly or variation.
Once you unlock the specialist guns the game just flys by as nothing can stand up against them, missions while offering variety, 38 is too few over such a small island.
Also funny how when you escape from Vass's compound you go into the jungle, yet later on its suddenly on a island.

The game would have been better if the storyline had a believable main character, such as Grant but yet he dies at the start and your left with Jason who suddenly knows how to use every gun.

Agreed. Most reviewers commented on how some of the levels were fiendishly difficult to finish other than on easy mode and I certainly didn't notice any free kills. The only way to do that was via stealth.

I thought it was packed full of content. You could play for 10 hours alone just unlocking towers and crafting the majority of the wallets and slings.

Personally apart from the quite horrendous frame rate you pointed out mate i thought it was game of the year for 2012 in my books.

Imagine how good it would have been on next generation consoles......wink
