We shall see what the reviews say, and if there is a demo.
The main problem is that it's single player only. Unless you are an obsessive compulsive who must collect and do everything, it will have a replay value equal to an ice cream...

Playstation magazine in a foreign land gave it a 9/10 and Edge Magazine which are extremely critical gave it a 8/10 which by there standards means its brilliant.
Single player or not it looks half decent until the Last of Us ships in 3 weeks and then i think thats about it until Next Generation arrives which better be this year because Gaming has become boring and Stale and we need to spice it up a little bit with the likes of Destiny,Watchdogs,Killzone ect.

Playing on PlayStation 3, I ran into a number of troubling and frustrating technical issues that are simply impossible to ignore. Some issues, like screen tearing and occasional texture pop-in, are common, but some problems are of a more exotic variety. Last Light locked up my console several times, forcing a hard-reset. One happened during the ending, which was an incredibly immersion-killing happenstance. It also constantly auto-saves, and occasionally it would cause framerate hiccups, creating the illusion of a locked-up console for up to five seconds at a time. And most troublingly, I ran into a serious set of glitches on one stage in particular that allowed me to run through an entire part of the chapter while the enemies stood and watched without raising a finger. I could even replicate the problem by going back to the previous auto-save, something I had to do when the game froze during one of these botched runs.)

And what's all this $5 for "hard mode" as DLC? They'll be charging per save next.
|
|
|
|
Hopefully the PC version will be superior and won't have those problems...
|
|
|

Well its ordered on a 360 like most multi platform games i buy and a major problem with the Playstation 3 that hopefully if specifications and rumours are to be true the Playstation 4 will not have the same issues.

Yeah its getting a little out of hand isn't it,i don't mind forking out for easy peasy mode but not Hard.
Nice when you see reviews like THIS

There's a review that suggests the game isn't all that bad. It's also reviewed on the PS3 so I don't know but it sounds like the other guy's Playstation must've been knackered or something? I trust that Stuart Andrews guy so I'm more confident he's right.
STALKER put me right off these games in general but I really did enjoy certain aspects and the dark, dry humour to them. They were good in places but a real disorganised chore in others (all the walking, bugs and general tedium).
But, there is some appeal still. I've got Tomb Raider to run first though.

By all accounts the reviews are solid for this game and im getting it regardless of the odd problem with the playstation 3 version that mrnelster posted, whats new i say and this has been the case in question for the past 6 years on multiplayer games in general.
Xbox360 always got the better port and now finally Sony have realised there ignorance and mistakes and are going down the right path with the Playstation 4.
Can not wait to see what Microsoft comes up with on their reveal a week today, have to be mind glowingly good for me to be slightly interested, multimedia functions with consoles don't interest me one little bit as the focus should be purely on games and new IPs.

I think I might pick this up at the end of the month. Feels a bit Dead Spacey (the original) but in FPS.

Sweet. I liked that.

I presume 2034 will continue with the same sort of genre - its not frightening per se, just unsettling (or even disturbing) in parts...

Came this afternoon and its a pretty decent game, graphics are not bad but nowhere near the beauty of a nice PC.
Certainly not disappointed and i will defiantly finish this before i think of trading it.
|
|
|
|
Of course - for decent graphics, you need a PC...
|
|
|
Or a Playstation 4

Meh....PC is so last year.

Nah. PC not dead. Give me one of these babies!

Only for a short while.

You may move of into the distance a year or so later but i know where all the developers choice to make games and it isn't PC my friend.
Sticking with a PC in this day and age and wanting to play some real great games then you have to invest in a console simplessssssssss......
10 years ago it was the complete opposite.......But not anymore as there are very high development costs and the money is in consoles and not PC like it was a decade ago.

Touch!

That is mental. At the risk of sounding repetitive......Holodeck!
But if I am to successfully recreate a scuffle on the Cambodian border, rescue Elias and push Barnes from the chopper (all from my living room), they're going to have to do some serious work on the size of that thing.

Try trying a letter on a console...
Or a decent FPS...
|
|

Controls are where its at with FPS and Mouse and Keyboard and i can not argue with that, but having played consoles for many years you quickly get used to the change and i don't have any issues playing FPS on consoles and in fact its my favourite type of game.
Im just stating the obvious backed up by many developers that have eloped from PC gaming knowing exactly where the money is in recent years.
I have had this conversation on these forums on many occasions with Spookish who is a die hard PC fanatic and i think even he will admit some of the points i have raised regarding game development and the amount of games not available on a PC has some clout.
Will you ever see Infamous Second Son on a PC.
You wont see Killzone Shadow
Fall
And you wont see games like
The Last Of Us
The list is endless and personally if you are a Gamer and love games then i don't see any choice but to invest in a Gaming platform that have developers flocking in there droves to develop for.......And that is Consoles and next generation consoles will certainly close the gap on the graphical flair that is on a high end PC.
They may stabilise and PC gaming will move on once again when you constantly upgrade but we have some great games now on hardware that is 6 years old so imagine what we are going to see when we get hold of the new Playstation 4 and 8gig of DDR5 Ram.
At present we have 512mb of ram which quite frankly is ridiculous, but some top developers have bought us some fantastic looking games that more than live up to my high expectations.
Far Cry 3 was one of my games of last year and the mind boggles what Far Cry 4 will look like on next generation consoles, because we both know that on consoles this game and many others will never compete with a nice PC in terms of looks and performance.
What i do like about you MR Toad is the amounts of replies and posts you are now contributing in the Gaming forums which is well needed .
I like reading your views and comments so keep it coming

I decided that when summers over and gaming season starts again that I'm buying a new gaming PC instead of the PS4

Exclusivity is not exclusive to the consoles. This link has a list of the (current) PC exclusive games.
The main problems with console games is that you pay far for them than the PC version, and they are exceedingly difficult to develop for, with the exception of the Xbox 360.
Controllers are good for platform games, but they died out when the dinosaurs were around, and are too imprecise for FPS use.
|
|
|
Playstation 4 will be a breeze to develop for as its using PC architecture and thats backed up by many developers singing there praises.
|
|
|
Fool
And i beg to differ swanny and bet you as much as you like you will buy a Playstation 4.
|
|

The last of us and infamous and killzone shadow fall are all exclusive to the playstation 3 and 4 so I really don't know what you are going on about .

Controllers are good for platform games, but they died out when the dinosaurs were around, and are too imprecise for FPS use. Thats why keyboard and mouse are used instead of stick control for aircraft, mounted artillery etc.....oh hang on a minute. Perhaps if Maverick had hit shift quicker, Goose would still be with us today.
The mouse serves a specific purpose in FPS games, with "games" being the operative word and that is to make reactions times faster than would actually be possible in the real world. I have the same argument with all the youngsters today that don't invert there sticks and claim it feels more natural, but it is only because that is what they are used to. At Mach 2 there is a reason you don't push forward to go up.
Controllers are more reflective of real world reaction times and don't require such well honed wrist action.

I decided that when summers over and gaming season starts again that I'm buying a new gaming PC instead of the PS4 Rumour has it that as of 2014, all new PCs will have built in knock sensors that turn on the webcam when you least expect it .
It might catch you squinting!

Or busy with the wrist action...

Blizzard have some interesting comments on how controllers immerse players better than a mouse and keyboard can.

initially steam declined my offer of purchase as the UK is the wrong region, but seems to be downloading and installing now
went to the can i run it site and was as far to the right as i can get, when downloaded will reboot the pc into performance mode

Let me know what you think of it. This is a game that will wait for the bargain bin for me, not because I don't like the look of it, but because I intend to rinse The Last of Us to death and I'm not sure how far away the PS4 is yet.

You and me both ,just hope that Sony shock us twice tomorrow and announce the European release date but make it way earlier than the November expected ship.
Obviously both have media events tomorrow and both know the price point and the release dates,Microsoft conference is first but I'm thinking have Sony got ant leeway in there release schedule and if Microsoft date is revealed and its close to Sony ,could they possibly bring it forward a month if say Microsoft say blah blah blah November and Sony say let's do October or something.
I think that's a tad unreal as I think there structure, planning ,methods and dates will have to be what they have already planned, but what a coup it would be If they had the facility to change and bring forward there time frame of the playstation 4.
Apparently with news and adverts advertising the Playstation 4 as coming to Europe this year we are still awaiting a official date from Sony and this would be a self destruct button if they fail to do Europe this year.
