Happy New Year everyone
I wonder how long it is before the price cuts will kick in for the Xbox One and poss the PS4. Reason I know only one person with an Xbox One and nobody with a PS4 and my teenage kids never even asked/mentioned the new consoles for Xmas. Ok not very scientific but I really can`t see these being massive hit at £400, got two 360s in this house and in no massive rush to replace them!?

Happy new year Mr Grumpy.
Can't see a Sony price cut coming any time soon to be honest, not with the ps4 still being difficult to get hold of over Christmas. I suppose the Xbox one could reduce it's price to the same as the ps4 if the reported unofficial sales numbers are to be believed, but they may still be happily within their predicted sales figures.
I've still got two ps3's going strong, but I wouldn't be quite as confident as to how long Microsoft will keep supporting the 360 if past history is anything to go by. As long as they do, the 360 and ps3 are still great consoles.
Isn't TitanFall coming to the 360?

Well well well Grumpy makes a Gaming forum Return, where have you been all of 2013 Grumpy .
There is a few of us on here with next generation consoles and i know plenty of people with Playstation 4s

Well Sony have openly admitted all there focus is now on the Playstation 4 and i doubt we will see as many top class games as previous years on the playstation 3.
Personally i think its the way to go,promote what you have just launched and give people huge reasons to make the jump and upgrade, give us jaw dropping games that are only possible on next generation hardware.
Think Titanfall and Infamous Second Son will be the start of something truly amazing.

But it's still a lot of money in current times, whatever the Eaton Rifles would have you believe. I'd love another couple of PS4's but its just too much dosh.

Why do you want more than 1 playstation 4 mate may i ask
And i don't know a Poor Electrician ,i had a electrician come around here and replace a transformer in one of these stupid fancy lights we have scattered around the house with the small halogen bulbs that last mere weeks.
Charged me £20 for a replacement and £40 for changing it over that took him 5 minutes so thats basically £60 for 10 minutes job and the lights still useless.
Seems to get to hot,if you have it on for a few hours and turn it off and back on again it don't work until its cooled down a hour or so later.
So I'm not having any of your poor electrician with no money Sony Sob Stories
Have a good new year mate and lets hope we get your connection sorted so we can have a few games,I'm dropping both that Knack and Ghosts tomorrow and getting something for the Xbox one.

Happy New Year
I also do not expect Sony to cut the price of the PS4 which is already good value at £349 IMO and they apparently make a loss at that price. Add to that the high sales and high demand and it seems unlikely.
Its funny that basically everywhere you go Xbox One are very easy to get but Playstation 4 you can not find for love or money.
Like i have already said Microsoft supply chain may be better equipped and Sony is Lacking a little,or it could be that Sony Console apparently seems more popular.
I agree with every body else . You will not be seeing a price reduction for the Sony PS4 this year its already competitively priced when compared to the competition and demand is out stripping supply .
But the Xbox One is a different story , its easy to find a Xbox One , it costs £80 more than a PS4 and is being out sold by Sony PS4 by a considerable margin .
I still don't see them reducing the price of the Xbox One till after the release of Titian Full , which is in March , so my hunch is a price reduction beginning of the summer on the Xbox One and no reduction on the PS4 this year
.
Could see some packages being put together , to try and sure up Xbox sales but what's on offer now , is disappointing .
I don't want three ps4 consoles, I just want to keep the kids away from mine!
I told you I'd buy knack off you, for the kids obviously.
it will probably be a couple of years or more, the price cuts come when the manufacturing costs go down, eventually they will be able to produce chips with higher yields and more chips per wafer, thats when the cost will go down. Supply and demand will also be a factor of course but it wont be this soon.
Of course its also possible a revised cheaper product might have features cut such as the ps3 slim not been as good as the ps3 fat.

BC is the killer feature to make people jump, a risk free move that plays all your existing (valuable) games collection without extra clutter.
However I think the real reason BC doesnt exist is it conflicts with publishers, it will hit sales when they try to resell ps3 games on the ps4 and their new planned internet play service.
If you think BC doesnt sell, if the wii-u had no BC I wouldnt have brought one, I got the wii-u so I could play 4 wii games I wanted. Although I still cant play those games as I am waiting for my wii classic controller to arrive.

You may well all be right but this forum is for gamers and you would all buy the latest gear no doubt, however the other demographic such as myself who likes a wee bit of gaming from time to time but not a die hard will be waiting for a while before dipping their toes in to the water. As for the PS4 v Xbox1, I assume the fact its £80 cheaper explains alot but its still not a price where your average family will get one or possibly two for the kids etc. Get the price to under £300 and then I may consider oh and drop the game prices as well. Just bought two Xbox games for Christmas, but only once they dropped to under £30.

Happy New Year
The consoles definitely don't seem to be selling like hot cakes. Game in Bath had some PS4's available the other day.
Speaking of hot cakes sainsburys has hot cross buns on the shelves actually right next to mince pies so happy easter to you as well

Yeah my next E/shop purchase is Super metroid but you can use the tablet for that

So the Playstation 4 at £349 is to high a price to pay given whats in it and the fact its actually £150 less than when the playstation 3 originally shipped.
So for the sake of a mere £50 drop of the playstation 4 to something like £299 you would rather wait
Don't get it and never will, now if the playstation 4 was like £700 and you wanted it for under £500 i might just see the reason to your logic way of thinking.
People have short memories as discussed in previous threads in this forum over the past 18 months and the Sony Playstation 4 is amazing value for money and apart from some special bundles there is no way i can see this unit reduced for at least 18 months.
And the Wii U at present is a steal and like Chrysalis says its BC so it plays your Nintendo Wii games and it has some really nice games at present, not what i would call hardened online gamer multiplayer games but excellent single player games.

How much you want to pay then and don't try and pull a Spook on me

Its £150 less than the PS3 launched at, if I recall the PS3 was toiling in the early days of release and that was price! PS4 is cheaper than the Xbox if it was the other way round I`m sure the Xbox would be in short supply! So I think the point is made, they need to be cheaper before they are mainstream!

Like you said in your previous post die hard gamers like myself and a few others on this forum have bought a new console already because to me and I am sure them you can't put a price on the hundreds of hours spent playing them.
If you are just a casual gamer or play in stints then it probably isn't worth spending £350 to £450 on release unless you have the money sitting around.
I paid more for my Xbox 360 than I did for my Xbox One and at the time I was a PC only gamer, so £500 felt like a lot of money. Especially when you only got tripe like King Kong, Condemned and Perfect Dark with it! The good thing about these new consoles is that gaming is so much more popular now that we have had some great release titles. Some people may disagree but for me BF4, Assassins Creed Black Flag and Dead Rising 3 have been keeping me very busy. I know BF and AC were on Xbox 360 too but it's nice having such big games on release of the console.

Haha you are mental mate! A Wii U, Ps4 and Xbox One? Where do you get the time to play them all?! I spend tens of hours on my Xbox a week and dont have time to get through everything haha
All nice things come in 3s mate its not about having the time its about having choice mate and as you know many times through the year there are periods of months when little in the way of any think decent gets released, take the summer months and then the period from November to around March time.
This year it was better because we had the 2 new consoles but there is not exactly what i would call mind blowing software on them.
The Nintendo Wii U is my bit of fun for when i want to play those platform type games only Nintendo make, and the other 2 are for online gaming and really drop dead gorgeous looking games in the future,as you know only to well Jaxx at some point you will be coming on here saying i wish i could play that but i only have whatever ?
And i tell you something elseAnd it shocked me the Wii U is a lovely bit of kit and has some really cool fun games

I say why not if you can afford to get all the systems, I would likely do the same as I love technology and gaming.
Now how about a gaming PC to cover all bases.. maybe a compact Alienware system ?

I have a lovely iMac 27inch here in the office trance but for PC gaming something like a windows PC is more ideal for gaming i guess.
But to be honest i don't like been restricted to office with mouse/keyboard set up playing online games,i like to lie back and chill in total comfort on a massive tv and cozy sofa with me joypad in hand
I will never go back to PC gaming mate as I'm totally satisfied with what the consoles offer me in way of games, choice and variety only seen on Consoles

I wonder if he's taken a look at the steam store lately. After the amount he has spent on those three consoles and his hybrid drive he could have got a half decent PC , run steam OS on it and be happily playing away. Built into something like this or
this it wont be too different from the consoles he's replacing.

They look great, any idea how much they cost and can they play BF4??
Yeah that's true
I think it is fine to hook up a PC like that if you want to play single player games, like I got Tomb Raider earlier this year and it looked a lot better on my PC than on my 360 and I used my Xbox pad to play still. The part where PC fails for me is that if I wanted to play BF4 online using an Xbox controller on my PC then I would be at a massive disadvantage to those using a keyboard and mouse, and I can't comfortably use a keyboard and mouse in my lounge.
Your right I could have got a lovely PC for around £1200 but I'm not interested and that's my personal preference ..
I've had some of my best Gaming days spent on a PC which I have mentioned in the past, but as I'm not getting any younger ( just turned 35 ) that's for Nelly and Spook ...my choice is consoles the last decade or so and it simply suits my needs and that's that really....
Besides a have lovely Apple IMac here so where would I actually y put another gaming PC ,not that I want one anyway ?
Hybrid Drive....£60... Think that don't even buy a decent gaming mouse
"Besides a have lovely Apple IMac here so where would I actually y put another gaming PC ,not that I want one anyway ?"
Because a PC would play a lot more than a Mac, so you would want both. Same reason why you own a PS4, Xbox One and a Wii U. Variety is the spice of life they say!

Thats a no brainer Jaxx that tomb raider would look better on your PC than your 7 year old ageing relic with about as much graphical grunt as a iPhone 5s.
you will see a massive difference if you buy the next generation Tomb Raider which is coming out end of January, great game as you know but the full retail price of Xbox One games and Playstation 4 games I'm not buying it as thats a complete rip off regardless of how good the game is.
If you haven't played the game on 360 and P3 then i would go as far as to say this will be the game to show of the system you got capabilities.
I've also got a 27" iMac which I run windows 7 on to play the latest PC games!!
pause for thought
Seriously Killa i got about 10 games downstairs i have yet to fully play and I'm alright until next year ivim totally honest.
I ditched the Cod Ghosts Tripe though and got a copy of Ryse for the Xbox One,Dead Rising 3 arrived this morning as a replacement for the Ryse edition Xbox One they never sent ?
Have Killzone Shadowfall and Battlefield 4 on Playstation 4 which i have hardly touched.
Then i have Mario 3d,Pikmin 3,The wonderful 101,Zombie U and Zelda Wind Waker which i am halfway through
Never going to get through all of them and i know for sure some will not live up to my expectations so they will tide me over until March and Titanfall,Watchdogs and Infamous Second Son

Yeah I am with you mate I do rather gaming on a console these days also but I think if I already had a PS4 and wanted a additional gaming system I would likely go for a PC before a Xbox One or WiiU.
Hey don't knock the Wii U mate its a nice bit of kit and less than half the price of a Xbox One and it's got some great little games ..
I am sure it is mate but I have no interest in playing Mario or Zelda...
What about Pikmin 3 a great Strategy title and Zombie U..

The trouble for me is mate, the hassle involved with PC gaming. In IQ terms, I make most of the PC gamers I have ever met aspire to work in B&Q. And whatever they claim (repeatedly) it really can be a load of grief.
Now if you have no wife, kids, business, property to look after, that little extra graphicsl shunt would probably appeal more, but you really do have to have the time for it. If I had that extra time I would spend it playing football and on my guitars.
Before whacking the console on for an hour before beddy byes.
(Note: not that there's anything wrong with working in B&Q you understand. They make Wickes staff look like first level IT support).

What about Pikmin 3 a great Strategy title and Zombie U.. Please stop using that Pikmin word. It conjures up images of playing a game with some sort of Tiny Tim type character.
Be a man and shoot stuff. Or even better, drive about and shoot stuff....
(Edit: now where did I leave that Knack blu ray disc. )

You say that but GTA V looks amazing. My mate had a look last night and couldn't believe the quality. He's not a gamer.

Funny ha ha ! You ever played a Pikmin game Swanny?

Just watched a Pikmin 3 walkthrough on YouTube and I've got to admit I like what Nintendo are doing with their art approach. Simplistic mechanics on top of HD, almost photorealistic backgrounds. Really nice.
The other germ one you posted about (though it looked a little repetitive) was the same. Great backgrounds.
I will never buy an Xbox One, no point in owning that as well as a PS4, but the Wii U is now a definite possibility. Will keep me going when I finish Knack.
The kids are all over this Pikmin 3 video.

Funny ha ha ! You ever played a Pikmin game Swanny?
Never even heard of it before you mentioned it. I don't even know what a Wii U looks like

Pikmin 3 mate is one of Nintendo greatest games along side Mario and Zelda,it's a beautifull colourful strategic plat former only Nintendo can make.
The reason I like Nintendo is because they where around long before Both Microsoft and Sony but have lost there way a little with there success of the original Wii and have produced little in the way of decent software apart from family friendly orientated games suited more to the family or casual gamer.
But on there day and with 3rd party support they can produce outstanding games that you won't see on any other system.
This afternoon I put Mario 3d on it literally blew me away with how gorgeous it looks and how fantastic it plays.
For you Nelly and your daughters it's perfectly suited to your needs, forget online play even though it has it but it's not in the same league as both the Sony and Microsoft consoles.
But what it gives you mate is hours and hours of colourful fun with some really nice looking addictive games.
For £220 with a HD digitally downloaded copy of Zelda wind waker it's the bargin of the century, look beyond the Sony machine mate and think about buying one ,I guarantee you will love some of the games and your daughters will have the time of there lives using it.
After all.....if you don't like it which you will ,your daughters will love it and that frees up your Playstation 4 ......Bo Selecta !!!!

What other Germ was that then ?

The game you downloaded where you were inside a body killing germs or cells or something. Can't remember the name.
