Steam Trading Cards

[link to this post]

Had my first sale of these pretty useless items - some muppet (unless it's one of you lot, in which case you made a very wise choice), bought something for 50p (I received 44p, which I put towards the purchase of the Red Faction DLC).

I don't see the point of these trading cards - I presume Valve are trying to get people to start collecting things... anything what-so-ever...

Yes. When you have a game on steam and play it a certain number of these trading cards drop. You have to find the rest in the set by either trading on the steam marketplace or swapping with your gaming friends. When you have the set you can craft a badge which gives you game discounts and emoticons etc..

I got one of the foil-cards from a random booster-pack (which you occasionally get for playing games on Steam), and it sold within a few minutes for just over £2. That also went towards some DLC, can't remember which! smile

I must be pricing mine to cheaply smile

I just dont see the point of them - it just adds bloat to Steam (and it's already bad enough - the community area is complete and utter mess), and all you can do with them is try and flog 'em to some idiot - or look at them (not the idiot, the card).

i think the idea is that the higher rank you are the faster/more cards drop so bit like a carrot and donkey. Bet the kids love it.

You will get half the cards from playing the game and the others is either trading or buying to get the achievement, its just a further expansion on the in-game achivement.
