Still way too early for that old bean, but I agree Destiny could be a winning [FPS] formula.

We still have the Division and (one I'm totally intrigued by) The Order 1886, yet to come.

You must have been a zookeeper in a former life Swanny, because you are definitely having a giraffe. tongue

I've never played Halo but there's no doubt that decent first person sci fi shooters have broad appeal IF you get the backstory right, and it looks like this has it all. Shooting, looting, crafting and online co-op with open world public events? Could be a classic in waiting if Bungie get the feel right, and lets be honest, they have the pedigree.

You sure you're not just being sci-fi-ist Leiutenant?

Halo wasn't released on a Nintendo Snes Swanny and thats about how far you are behind when it comes to Next generation wink

Me and me Homie Nelly will be giving you plenty to cry about in a few weeks time when we get our hands on Playstation 4 copies of both Wofenstein and Watchdogs to get you dribbling tongue.

Next gen will have arrived at last. With Watchdogs thats for sure.

You keep harping on about that old game GTA5 and we will focus our attention on current next generation games to keep you informed of the kind of gaming world true gamers live in.crazy

First Halo without multiplayer on the original Xbox Was a system sellar and was brilliant and why i invested in the original XboxAs soon as it went multiplayer it wasn't very much fun if I'm honest so I'm hoping Bungie have made more of a adult FPS than some childish Halo that it became.

what makes these games next generation?

watchdogs is out on 6 platforms, its even out on the wii-u which is a console almost abandoned by 3rd party devs.

what will be the difference between ps3 and ps4 versions of the game other than probably graphical effects and possibly resolution? surely its the same game right?

Watchdogs or Destiny will own both those titles and i doubt they see the light of day in 2014 anyway.

Obviously we will get a few surprises at E3 In June but there isn't to much on the horizon that has me that interested about when i look at this years current release schedule.

There is a new Gears in the works but that will be end of 2015 unless they have kept that quiet for the past 18 months and i very much doubt that.

Im beginning to wonder why i even bothered with a Xbox One,i can not think of the last time i switched it on and played a game on it.About 6 weeks ago i think and that was for 5 minutes.

There is no release date for Watchdogs on the Nintendo Wii U and only a clown would buy that for that system if he had one or both of the others.

Watchdogs is on all the platforms granted but its going to look way nicer on the next generation stuff than the older hardware.

Besides Chrysalis I'm winding Swanny up with those comments..Its supposed to be a humorous post wink

As for the Nintendo Wii U Rumour has it that Nintendo will be announcing a new machine at E3,Nintendo squashed those rumours though and claimed it wasn't true..Im in the Rumour camp because as you say the Nintendo Wii U looks like it has the same success rate as the Atari Jaguar even though i have had more fun on that system at present than both the Playstation 4 and Xbox One Combined wink

Halo single-player was okay. There were a fair few long repetitive sections though. Multi-player was good, but it did show it's XBox's origins all too well.

One thing they did get absolutely right, and which all other 3rd person games with vehicles should emulate is how they handle - it was (and possibly still is) absolutely the best control system around.

I registered on club nintendo (as needed for that free game) and 70% of the site says still in production, nintendo seem half arsed with it. That nintendo tvii service seems abandoned as well.

If nintendo release a new console I think they will go the way of sega, lose consumer confidence. Thats the worst they can do, they simply have to ride the wii-u out.

I have checked steam for watchdogs, whilst the pc version will be smooth nice graphics etc. I do prefer playing on consoles as they have natural controller input plus it adds to trphies/achievements I am building up. IF the ps3/360 version is good framerate then I will get one of those 2 versions, otherwise probably pc, so is a waiting game for me.

Well it's more beneficial than a console and far more Healthy in that respect I agree, you certainly got your money's worth with GTA5 .

Surprised you have become somewhat bored with it though given the amount of times you spent playing it.then again may be I'm not surprised as at some point a game never mind how good becomes a little bit predictable and can become boring .

They could make a fortune licensing there games for mobile devices and I think that's something they should seriously consider.

The Nintendo Wii U was a huge mistake even though it now has some great addictive games, you don't bring a new next generation console to market that is only just a little bit more powerful than a Playstation 3 and Xbox 360,that's there first mistake, the second is the severe game drought that seems to go side by side with new console releases.

I don't really understand the mindset of these Gaming company's that release new hardware without killer games to go with it.

Apart from the original Xbox and Halo and the Nintendo 64 and Mario 64 new hardware releases don't have any games to support them until nearly a year later,Infamous Second son needed to be a launch game on the Playstation 4 and so did the promised Drive Club.

Now if Watchdogs turns out to be a average game then for me this will a total disaster of the highest order, personally from what I have seen I think it's going to be huge franchise ,I mean it's been 5 years in the making.

And while we are on the subject the person/ persons responsible for coming up with the original name The Nintendo Wii and now the Wii U needs to get out of the gaming division and rethink his/ her career options.

One of the most stupid names ever to grace a new console which in all honesty alienated mature gamers with there stupid name in the first place.

It sounded childish,it is childish and they need to start releasing some M for Mature Nintendo published games and stop releasing the same old tired franchises .

Give me another Metroid developed by Retro please and take my Money and stop pumping out party games .

They had a massive success with the Nintendo Wii as it appealed to other people not necessary into gaming, like family's and younger children based on its motion controls ,personally I hate motion controlled gaming but I bought one for a 20 minute fix and sold it 6 months later after it sat there doing nothing but collection more dust than my dyson.

I don't seriously think I will be interested next time around with next generation consoles unless there is a mind blowing launch game,I am into gaming and gadgets and the thought of something next gen be it a console, tablet .new phone I'm generally sold.

They thought that because of the huge success of the Nintendo Wii,they thought power wasn't important and really it's basically the Wii 2 with a massive tablet controller that has [censored] poor battery life.

I'm knocking it but on many counts I really have had more fun with it than the other 2 consoles,I only wish they would focus more on the mature market, that's why developers are delaying releases of games like Watchdogs and cancelling other on the Wii U because nobody is going to buy the bigger games on a Nintendo Wii U when they have a Playstation 4 or Xbox One

Think it was 18 months later they actually released stuff worth purchasing the console for,I bought it because of my love of Zelda and the awesome Pikmin game

Re: Game of the year

[re: time2die] [link to this post]

I got it for 3 wii exclusive games initially. one of them is made by the same dev who made lost oddysey which is probably the best jrpg in previous generation.

I dont know what the hell is going on with the wii-u, commercially its a complete failure, but I feel this is about much more than the hardware.

Now days deals are made all the time, cash changes hands for exclusives etc. and I get the impression sony has their own developers in their pockets, microsoft has their's also, nintendo has noone just their own 1st party releases, they seem to think they dont need to pay for games to be developed on their system. Zelda wind waker isnt really a wii-u game, its a enhanced port for the wii-u so the wii-u after all this time is yet to have a native zelda game. The gamepad has the shortest battery life I have ever seen for a gamepad and if you seen the news article I posted it looks like they originally had a bigger battery but then reduced it to cut costs. If I compare it to say my vita, which isnt just a screen it also has a gpu/cpu etc. the vita has a battery that lasts about 10x as long and it charges faster as well. The gamepad on my wii-u has a sticky button, I usually only ever see sticky buttons on cheap 3rd party controllers or really old 1st party ones, my brand new wii-u controller has the problem. Plus the huge brick required to charge it urrrgh. Really bad design choices. The wii-u is obviously weak for this generation and in particular its cpu is very weak, but at the time it was the most powerful console when released yet it didnt get any support then, which is why I think its not all down to the hardware, unless developers knew at that time the future specs of ps4 and xbox1.

All I can do is compare it to other consoles I have and this is what I see.

The club nintendo website is still not complete about 2 years or so after the product is launched, in addition I registered my console and its yet to show on the site, when I registered my ps3 on psn it was instant. I contacted nintendo reps and have yet to have a reply.
The nintendo tvii feature which is used for iptv services, is yet to launch in europe, nintendo have a website they made in feb 2013 stating its coming soon, that same page is still there now in may 2014. They kept the app on the wii-u just it doesnt do anything.
No iplayer/itvplayer yet the ps4 already has these.
Nintendo's famous virtual console which I have seen way too much hype for has a massive 8 snes games on the wii eshop, seems all but abandoned.
The wii-u and even wii seems to have barely any budget games. I frequently brought games for both ps3 and xbox360 for £15-20 6 months or so after release, a 4 year old wii game costs £60, 2 year old wii-u game £40 etc.

I dont fault them making mario games, it is a good franchise and mario u is brilliant, mario 3d is brilliant. mario kart clearly a good franchise, as many competitors clone it. But its too few games, more are needed. Yes quite possibility with more different types of games, but adult themed games I think simply arent in nintendo's dna. The wii-u is too expensive for a 8 year old. Not powerful enough for adult themed gamers. and for whatever reason (is probably related to hw spec but probably also other reasons) 3rd parties wont touch it. The touchpad that comes with it I think also will confuse the sort of gamers who got attracted to the wii.

Also how marketing have we seen from nintendo? seems nothing compared to sony and microsoft.

Even though they don't seem to be marketing the Wii U very well they do have some decent games on it as of today.

They are obviously arrogant in there ways and like i said i really don't think that it will be to long before they bring out new hardware in some form or another.

It is indeed although it now has free running style gameplay to it as well so a little like Mirrors Edge with zombies, I actually quite enjoyed playing Dead Island co-op with a few mates, made a change going from most games being shoot first, melee if in trouble to being mainly melee combat and save the gun for when you are being over run. I thought the 10mins of gameplay shown looked pretty darn good.

That was the video I saw mate, I thought it was 10mins but it was obviously 12mins. It did have a release date of 1st quarter 2014, then it was put back to 2nd quarter 2014 and I did fear the worst when I have heard nothing new about it for a while.
Agree with the voice overs they do sound a little ropey to say the least.
The 2 games I really liked the look of in Dying Light and The Division both pushed back to 2015, I better not mention anymore games I want as they will be pushed back to next year as well, at this rate I'm going to be playing a slightly less buggy BF4 until 2016 lol.

In all seriousness though i had an issue with my internet connection years ago and so made up an account and then eventually forgot about it until again recently finding it, I'll no doubt be frequenting the gaming forum now, if only to complain about my useless team mates on Battlefield 4.

I promise I wont mention wanting Watchdogs until it's released and then I'll get it a few weeks later after the normal Ubisoft price drop.

IMO they should keep the story mode and multiplayer separate in games.

This is simply not you general run and gun shooter as it seems to have far more depth to it and lots of things to work out and do.
