This should not be happening on current gen systems.
Has me somewhat worried that Far cry 4 may have similar issues and whats really laughable is the fact that the more powerful Playstation 4 has more severe issues than its counterpart the Xbox One.
Thats not a dig at the Xbox One just a fact because on paper the playstation has the edge in terms of graphical clout.
But saying that over the past few months the playstation 4 version of about 3 or 4 games released recently is inferior to the Xbox Ones..Go figure.
So what the hell is going on here ? and why are these next generation titles struggling in terms of performance on far superior systems that we have today.

I will be trying this on a gtx 970, if it has issues then yeah bad optimisation for sure.
Smacks of lazy coding, but usually devs at least try to make it work on on consoles.

Well there's always GTA 5 if those games turn out bad, at least that should be good!

That's true but I have already played it,it was a brilliant game aNd it's the FPS mode that resold the package to me,without that I dare say I might have left it on the shelf for a while longer.

Cheers for that I won't be getting it until I hear it's ok
This is one of the reasons I don't pre-order. Last time I did I ended up with BF4 :/

Been watching some reviews on youtube and it doesn't look bad, nothing a patch wouldn't sort out

Yeah Playstation magazine or similar name gave it 10/10 but the uproar in the comments section says otherwise and called the game completely broken and in some cases hardly playable .
Polygon [[censored] site] very controversial site i should say gave it 6.5 but picked up on the terrible frame rate, glitches and bugs which other didn't care to mention.
Im sure patches may help Swanny but it doesn't say a lot about the games coming out on next generation consoles that we all now own.
Review embargo for Far Cry 4 ends Friday so that will be interesting to see what happens with that game coming from the same developers.

Woah horsey.....the article has been updated. It's a total mess on all platforms, not simply the PS4.
This a WatchDogs issue all over again, tonnes of NPC's being prioritised over visuals. FC4 will be fine and technically speaking, a completely different studio?

Yeah i got high hopes for my Far Cry 4. 6 days until Elephant countdown Nelly ..

dont you wonder why it got 10/10?
either the reviewer didnt play the game.
the magazine got paid
they dont want to be blacklisted so ignored the issues.
or the reviewer genuinely in their own mind doesnt consider fluctuating FPS a problem.

adding NPCs to be fair does add to the immersion.
I prefer extra NPC's to higher res.
However poor framerates that are not consistent I dont like, it should either be a consistent 30fps or consistent 60fps.
The industry is a mess. The only solution I see is something like this.
No preorder's.
Reviewers review copy of games they brought, without fear of been blacklisted etc.
Remove all game feature incentives to buy only, such as exclusive DLC.
yeah I did some research now this game seems a mess on all platforms.
cynicalbrit has announced he is changing his review policy, he will refuse review copies from publishers where the embargo is post launch date, and he will also in future announce when embargo dates are for any games he reviews.
The industry is a mess.
I totally agree
Needs all the Gaming sites to follow suit as this is totally unacceptable from developers and publishers of the games in question....
Personally the first 12 months of the new console life have been a bit of a mess if I'm honest with nothing to write home about in the way of fantastic games.
adding NPCs to be fair does add to the immersion.
I prefer extra NPC's to higher res. True, but there's a sensible limit. Hundreds of NPCs? Really?
Watchdogs looked great with the populated streets, but only 10% of the NPCs offered any worthwhile interaction, which is just a waste. AC:U has many times more apparently. If their only purpose is as a realistic backdrop whilst you dive into hay carts, then it's not worth the sacrifice of resolution or frame rate.
As for pre orders, I don't have a problem at all. They serve a purpose for me and also help gauge public interest in a game. If a developer doesn't recognise the need to fulfil that demand with a polished product then they should be rightfully lambasted, as we are currently seeing with AC:U.
The pre-order system aids conscientious developers, it doesn't create greedy publishing houses. That's just their default setting.
Yeah I'm a pre/ order freak but it will be a problem if my constant games on arrival fail to live up to the promise and video I have watched or have glaring technical issues...
Seriously I will be well and truly [censored] if next week if my contender for Game of the year turns out to be a complete waste of space...
I have very high hopes for this and I'm just taking the negative aspect at the minute based on the state if Assasins Creed Unity...
Come Friday evening I have a escape clause,as Far Cry 4 review embargo is lifted.....so come Friday reviews will go live and my game will still be sitting in Shopto.net warehouse just one click away from the worse case scenario.....cancelled....
It's going to have some terrible reviews for this to happen and I'm expecting some really high scores based on what I have read and seen over the past 12 months, even if the game gets the outstanding scores I expect,I also know that regardless of how good the gane is with the majority of the gaming websites reviews [ if that's the case] there will be some that will dish the dirt.
And if that dirt is based on the game been so similar to Far Cry 3 then I won't give 2 Hoots

Think I might give it a miss and get AC Rouge instead

Here is the Digital Foundary article with comparsion vid for ps4/xbone.
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-201...
The game will likely be fixed with enough patches but its a another example of a game being shipped early to meet the marketing date.
Mate, watch the Digital Foundary link above, the game looks beautiful. Rogue will look nothing like it. Just wait to see what the patches bring. Watch the video carefully and you will also see the PS4 maintain 30fps where the Xbone doesn't, though admittedly less frequently. That tells me these are optimisation issues, plain and simple. They tipped you the wink as much with their "parity" statement weeks back.
I suspect patches will steady the frame rate, but in the meantime the game still looks beautifully detailed.

The game will likely be fixed with enough patches but its a another example of a game being shipped early to meet the marketing date. And it's a shame because the game looks amazing (though not my cup of tea).
The conundrum is how do you fix a problem like Ubisoft? Pre orders give developers an idea of how many units they will be able to shift and in turn, that can allow them to spend more time on optimising their games. Some developers do delay their games (please, nobody mention DriveClub) and that can only be a good thing. There will always be a load of whingers across the blogosphere that impatiently stir up negativity, but if a delay is an admission that the game isn't completely ready, then that's a good thing in my eyes.
The problem isn't pre orders and delays, but the Ubisofts of the industry who optimise sales first and games second. When the company has previous, voting with your wallet is of course the only answer.
What about Drive Club
If I'm right then I can pick up GTA V on tuesday so I don't think I'll bother getting any of the AC games just yet
Correct along with Far Cry 4 if it doesn't follow the same path as Assassins creed Unity.
Seems my tactics have now gone out of the window and the pre/ order can not be cancelled now because Shopto have removed it from that section and they are now processing the order...
Now I know they are really good at getting games out on time but generally when a game gets released next Tuesday they start all this around Friday afternoon....do you think they have started this process earlier than usual to account for the possibility that some customers may just cancel because of what happened to Assasins Creed Unity....Only they know
Anyway reviews come out tomorrow and all will be revealed ......and it better be good news
dont assume it be fixed, they never fully fixed pc issues on watchdogs.
ubisoft fast becoming the evil dev, rushing games out and nasty DRM policies.

From the link above the PS4 has the better frame rate in the cut scenes but rather surprisingly the XB1 has better FPS when you are playing the game (PS4 FPS is all over the place)

Yes it was brilliant on last gen, I don't think releasing it on the new gen is really necessary. I would rather they work on the next GTA. The First Person mode would be interesting but I have a feeling Third Person would still be best. Bet the game will sell loads though so I understand why they are doing it.

When you look at what Rockstar achieved with GTA5 and 256 mb of ram on the playstation 3 and then compare the 8 gig that Ubisoft have at there disposal and it kind of sucks Bigtime...
Ubisoft should arrange a meeting with Rockstar and Naughty Dog to get some tips on optimisation and programming
Ubisoft shares fell once the [censored] hit the fan regarding Assasins Creed Unity ,they will be in deeper [censored] if the same happens next week with Far Cry 4 ....personally I don't see this happening because as Nelly said its a different team even though they are under the same developer Ubisoft....
I just had another thought Rayman.......I always thought that his body which didn't look connected was suppose to look like that ,may be that was a Glitch and they fooled us all...
It's not just the FPS mode it's everything else they have done with the game, personally I can not see a major difference in looks as Nelly pointed out in a side by side video....
Then again I don't have 20/20 vision .....more like Magoo vision.........
They are releasing Far Cry 4 on the tueday as well??
The simple answer is the publishers like Ubisoft/EA/Activison etc giving the studios enough time to complete and test the game.
The main problem is that the publishers on triple A titles, spend large amounts of money on marketing weeks before launch- to build up pre-orders yet once the reviews hit they can damage the marketing if the review is negative.
Review embargos are a way of protecting the first sales of the game, people will pre-order and buy on day of release as they want the game, the bad publicity will hurt ubisoft but will it change it much.
Simple. From now on don't buy a game until you hear the reviews. If they stop reviews from being released then don't buy
Enough patches will fix the optimization and bugs to get the game to a playable state.
If the studio and ubisoft can mess up FC3.5 (FC4) then it will be a very bad time for ubisoft's share price.
I just read that shares have already dropped 10%
Yes Swanny that has been the release date for ages, only GTA5 got added to that equasion .....
Enough patches will fix the optimization and bugs to get the game to a playable state.
now days more than 2 patches per game is rare.
it has micro transactions as well ouch.
If the studio and ubisoft can mess up FC3.5 (FC4) then it will be a very bad time for ubisoft's share price.
But comments like this are non constructive and utterly subjective. Is it any wonder that those investing multi million pound sums in game production want to protect their investment? There is an ever increasing sense of entitlement nowadays that leads to people all across the Internet, regurgitating spontaneous sound bites.
Do you have a copy of FC4? Have you played it? Is FIFA 15 really FIFA 14.5, because they keep kicking the same shaped ball each year? What do you base your opinion on?
You see in the old days it was simple. You bought a game, you didn't like it, you thought twice about buying their next offering. Nowadays, social media and the blogosphere get to talk out of the back of their heads to an international audience.
I didn't watch the AC:U video and see trash. I just saw a beautiful game where optimisation could (and should) be improved. As for the rest, self fulfilling prophecy springs to mind.
Simple. From now on don't buy a game until you hear the reviews. If they stop reviews from being released then don't buy Is the correct answer.
Also, don't condemn games six months before release based on a 60 second YouTube clip. Then embargoes may become less commonplace.
Its a joke, prehaps it needs a few smiley faces.
Ubisoft has suffered with the launch of Unity and it may have similar problems with FC4 but the game does look similar to FC3 (gameplay vids) will their be a large difference between the two?
Nothing wrong with getting the same game with changes/improvements ie Fifa/Cod etc but people are always looking for something new and different.
Ubisoft claim unity uses all of the ps4/xbone hardware, so prehaps too many AI?
http://www.gamespot.com/articles/assassins-creed-uni...
I know it's a joke, but that is the point. It's still a serious negative image to the marketing industry and they will obviously try to counter that. Embargoes are the easiest way to achieve it.
More constructive criticism is what the industry needs. Hundreds of bedroom based review sites trash talking every release help nobody, and that is exactly where the industry currently is. We're at the point where a 7/10 is labelled as poor or unfinished. Is it any wonder that developers/publishers are wary of throwing the review door wide open to all and sundry?
That in turn makes it easier for the Ubisofts to get away with huge day one patches etc. I don't disagree that it's an issue, I do think its laughad that nobody takes responsibility for creating that very culture.
Ubisoft claim unity uses all of the ps4/xbone hardware, so prehaps too many AI? Yes, I pointed that out up thread. I think too many NPC's is probably the (unnecessary) culprit.
They usually release on a friday
It showed such promise a few days ago. It makes no sense that they created such a mess of a game and even though they realised what they had done they then decided to release it anyway.
I have no sympathy for ubisoft, if they can't do their job properly then they don't deserve to be in business
Triple so called AAA titles release on a Tuesday ,take advanced warfare for instance and many other games....most are Friday but big games sometimes get shifted to Tuesday...
In the USA they have 2 release days,Tuesday and Thursday ....
If you look at another guys take on N4G this morning he claims the game is not in the state people are screaming about,he said it has glitches and a few issues ,but unplayable it's not.
its emerged the game dev's have breached DX11 guidelines.
http://wccftech.com/ubisoft-points-finger-amd-techni...
That may be an answer for the xbox1 and PC, as PS4 doesnt use DX11 right?
Must admit I've played this for 2hrs and apart from 1 fight scene against 5 or so enemys I've not had any issues at all (FPS clearly dropped a fair few) while playing it, One of the cutscenes dropped some FPS as well but other than that it's played fine.
So even with the hammering it initially got you took the chance and still went out and bought yourself a Copy .
If it's a single player game then I may look to see what the reviewers say, If I'm getting it for co-op then I don't tend to bother taking any notice of what they say.
so which one are you
I'm still going to get it too, just not sure which to get first! AC or Farcry, AC or Farcry... hmmmmmmmmmm!
Dragon Age Inquistion
I'm still going to get it too, just not sure which to get first! AC or Farcry, AC or Farcry... hmmmmmmmmmm! How many co op buddies do you have? AC:U - 4, FC4 - 2.
You could let that make your decision for you.
It showed such promise a few days ago. It makes no sense that they created such a mess of a game and even though they realised what they had done they then decided to release it anyway.
I have no sympathy for ubisoft, if they can't do their job properly then they don't deserve to be in business But you loved Black Flag, why suddenly anti Ubisoft? The game is quite obviously AAA. Ubisoft should be condemned for not making the most of the individual platforms, but this hullabaloo is typical of the PC sector. Console optimisation is a different kettle of fish.
In the end, I didn't like Watchdogs in the slightest, but from a gameplay perspective. All the nonsense about the visuals was just that, nonsense.
Don't believe the hype.
Embargoes allow for the sale of a unfinished game to the public with out them knowing the state of the game.
Every game release will get postive and negative comments across various sites, devs/publishers would only be warry if their game is not ready.
Day one patches are down to the publishers and their timescale of the developerment of the game, more time is needed on polishing the testing before release.
Apparently the playstation 4 patch just released has fixed all the issues and now it runs as smooth as Silk..... if that's tge truth the Kudos to Ubisoft for fixing it really quick ,admittedly it shouldn't have been in a state in the first place ,but hey ho this is way better than the disastrous Drive Club fiasco and still a game with issues a month down the line ...
I saw it in sainsburys earlier for £43 I might pick it up tomorrow
Especially as Timey reckons it's been fixed

It plays ok but there are far too many people wandering the streets, and they all seem to be twins and triplets. Plus there must be a real big demand for crosses as there are loads of people struggling along carrying them :/

Yea I do, it's a good single player game when there's nothing else to do.
I reckon I'll put it on hold when FC and GTA come out though.
I'm looking forward to having some fun in LS with you lot
Make Nelly get it

It's actually a very good game once you become an Assassin. Before that it's very hard work and you are better off staying out of fights. To start with you need to follow the main story and not just free roam like I was doing , that way you get your weapons and health upgrades etc.
Paris is massive and there's absolutely loads of stuff to do. I've started investing in properties now
