yeah I did some research now this game seems a mess on all platforms.

cynicalbrit has announced he is changing his review policy, he will refuse review copies from publishers where the embargo is post launch date, and he will also in future announce when embargo dates are for any games he reviews.

Needs all the Gaming sites to follow suit as this is totally unacceptable from developers and publishers of the games in question....

Personally the first 12 months of the new console life have been a bit of a mess if I'm honest with nothing to write home about in the way of fantastic games.

adding NPCs to be fair does add to the immersion.

I prefer extra NPC's to higher res.
True, but there's a sensible limit. Hundreds of NPCs? Really?

Watchdogs looked great with the populated streets, but only 10% of the NPCs offered any worthwhile interaction, which is just a waste. AC:U has many times more apparently. If their only purpose is as a realistic backdrop whilst you dive into hay carts, then it's not worth the sacrifice of resolution or frame rate.

As for pre orders, I don't have a problem at all. They serve a purpose for me and also help gauge public interest in a game. If a developer doesn't recognise the need to fulfil that demand with a polished product then they should be rightfully lambasted, as we are currently seeing with AC:U.

The pre-order system aids conscientious developers, it doesn't create greedy publishing houses. That's just their default setting.

Yeah I'm a pre/ order freak but it will be a problem if my constant games on arrival fail to live up to the promise and video I have watched or have glaring technical issues...

Seriously I will be well and truly [censored] if next week if my contender for Game of the year turns out to be a complete waste of space...

I have very high hopes for this and I'm just taking the negative aspect at the minute based on the state if Assasins Creed Unity...

Come Friday evening I have a escape clause,as Far Cry 4 review embargo is lifted.....so come Friday reviews will go live and my game will still be sitting in Shopto.net warehouse just one click away from the worse case scenario.....cancelled....

It's going to have some terrible reviews for this to happen and I'm expecting some really high scores based on what I have read and seen over the past 12 months, even if the game gets the outstanding scores I expect,I also know that regardless of how good the gane is with the majority of the gaming websites reviews [ if that's the case] there will be some that will dish the dirt.

And if that dirt is based on the game been so similar to Far Cry 3 then I won't give 2 Hoots smile

Here is the Digital Foundary article with comparsion vid for ps4/xbone.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-201...

The game will likely be fixed with enough patches but its a another example of a game being shipped early to meet the marketing date.

Mate, watch the Digital Foundary link above, the game looks beautiful. Rogue will look nothing like it. Just wait to see what the patches bring. Watch the video carefully and you will also see the PS4 maintain 30fps where the Xbone doesn't, though admittedly less frequently. That tells me these are optimisation issues, plain and simple. They tipped you the wink as much with their "parity" statement weeks back.

I suspect patches will steady the frame rate, but in the meantime the game still looks beautifully detailed.

And it's a shame because the game looks amazing (though not my cup of tea).

The conundrum is how do you fix a problem like Ubisoft? Pre orders give developers an idea of how many units they will be able to shift and in turn, that can allow them to spend more time on optimising their games. Some developers do delay their games (please, nobody mention DriveClub) and that can only be a good thing. There will always be a load of whingers across the blogosphere that impatiently stir up negativity, but if a delay is an admission that the game isn't completely ready, then that's a good thing in my eyes.

The problem isn't pre orders and delays, but the Ubisofts of the industry who optimise sales first and games second. When the company has previous, voting with your wallet is of course the only answer.
