Great so the consoles are going to hold us back yet again. How long until PS5?
Why don't they make consoles upgradeable?
I think they need to move away from the current idea, it's too restrictive
I think a graphics card upgrade option would be nice, even as an externally connected unit of some sort. That would sort the people who buy for platform and exclusives out, from the people who would like regular performance increase but can't stand all that operating system nonsense. Steam have realised that, but we'll see if it gathers any momentum next year.
Here is a good
comparisn video of the results of different settings on PC. I've not really seen one done quite so well and the gains are obvious even on a small phone screen.
For example, on my phone screen the higher "track detail" setting's weren't really discernible. The higher settings on AA and reflections showed very obvious improvements though. Textures on Ultra were obviously improved too, but a bigger screen would better highlight the texture differences and whether they were worthwhile.
I said to Timey the other night, I make a very real distinction between gaming and sims. I'm not interested in gaming on a PC. I literally can't be ars*d with settings on everything. Plug and play is why I buy consoles. But Project Cars is worth the extra hassle of setting up for me. I've got the hump already with the rotation settings on my F1 car, because hair pins require crossed hands and there isn't any easy way (it seems) to alter that on the consoles.
