Re: Star Wars Battlefront ?

[re: time2die] [link to this post]

I picked this up on Friday night and I have spent around 8 hours on it so far. I have mixed feelings about it to be honest, it looks incredible, the draw distance on the maps and just the look and feel of the environment is outstanding.

Some of the maps are better than others and the same can be said for the game modes, I've tried all of them and my personal favourite is Supremacy which is kind of like a cross between Conquest & Rush on Battlefield.

There are some really epic battles when both teams are fighting for the middle of the map, and it definitely feels like a typical Star Wars battle with blasters firing all over the place, AT-ST's rocking around, X-Wings & Tie Fighters flying above you etc.

My main concern is that the game just feels really light on content. I thought Destiny was light on content but this is even worse than that. The single player starter missions can all be done in under 3 minutes and there are only 5 of them. The other 10 missions are all the same thing in a slightly different map and they only take a few minutes each too. It's frustrating as it just feels very empty, it shows you a very short cutscene and then plops you into the mission and before you really get a chance to get going the mission is over and you're left feeling ripped off.

There is absolutely no story or anything else and it feels like the missions are just there as a bit of filler. There are only 4 maps on multiplayer but the maps do vary depending on the game mode, the same as Battlefield did. So if you play Endor on a deathmatch type game you are in a different part to if you play it in Supremacy.

The hero elements are good, it's great becoming Darth Vader / The Emperor / Boba Fett mid match to really turn things around for your team. There are some exciting game modes as well where you just play as heroes and that is really good fun too.

Overall I'm not sure how long it will last for me, there are only 21 guns to unlock in the whole game and about the same again in perks, I've already got 1/3 of them so I'm not sure what longevity there will be once I have got all of them.

I think it will give me something to do when I have an hour to kill, but once Just Cause is out I think this will be shelved.

Yeah the beta had me hyped but I now have no real urge to go out and buy this!!

Maybe it's because I'm trying to play and enjoy the other games that I own, I'm actually thoroughly enjoying Black Ops 3!!

If you look at Gamers reviews on Metacritic then the feelings expressed are exactly the same as yours and the reviews of this game are not very good on reflection and the only positive thing people are saying about this is the graphics are lovely.

This time i made the right choice,I'm not a Star Wars fan at the best of times,i downloaded the Beta and within 5 minutes of playing this i new that this game was not for me besides the eye candy graphics.

I only wish that i had the same thoughts and views on many games i have recently bought that in reality are not my type of games, take Fallout 4 for instance, way to complex for me with far to much content in my opinion,a game that claims 200 hours of gameplay is to deep,I'm not saying Fallout 4 is not a gamers dream and its a bad game because it isn't ,its just incredibly time consuming and hours and hours spent on this game can achieve very little.

Im sure that if i only spent money on a few games i would be more than happy with the content of Fallout 4 which could take literally 6 months to complete, now at the other end of the Spectrum we have Star Wars Battlefront with very little in the way of content plus the absolute rip of season pass at basically the price of the game.

Think you should start thinking mate a little bit more about what you buy in future, next year i am going to be extremely picky about future purchases and only buy games i truly like and not buy games because they look decent and have great graphics.

Are you serious lol? I do think about the games I buy, I've only bought 2 games in the last 4 months and that was this and Assassins Creed. I was always going to buy Battlefront because it's Star Wars and I'm a massive fan and was keen to see what they had done with it. I haven't bought Fallout 4 because I knew it wouldn't be for me.

I don't feel like I have wasted my money on it, I do enjoy it so as I say it will keep me busy until I get Just Cause on Christmas day. I just don't see it being a game like Battlefield 4 where you can pick it up 6 months after owning it and really enjoy it.
