Gaming ISP's

I am hoping to get connected to FTTC in the coming weeks if BT pull their fingers out!
All the cabinets seem to be finished just waiting for switch on.

I am thinking of going with Aquiss on their business package.

Anybody had or heard of experiences with them, good or bad?

They have told me they priortise gaming and voip as their top protocols.

Aquiss are an Entanet reseller, I've been with them (Entanet) for just over 4 years and have always had a cracking service for gaming. I used to play WoW online but now just play Xbox Live but never have problems with latency or lag.

Aquiss are definitely one of the better resellers, they offer very good Customer / Tech Support and have a nice community of customers on their forum

I'm using Be Unlimited, 6ms to BBC.co.uk. Solid too with no packet loss to speak of.

Guess I'm fairly fortunate though as it's presently all copper down to my exchange but I live close enough for it to give a good service.

Fibre would be nice but depending on the cost. I don't really need it currently. Be offer Annex M with increased upload speed to maximum of 2mbits/s or somesuch. I had it before but rarely took advantage of it. I'd rather save the few extra quid and go with Annex A instead.

should be fine on just about any ISP, same as ADSL.

That's not true. I used to be with sky and the line was useless for gaming. Credit where credit is due however, they tried many different ways to improve it but couldn't.

Rang BT. They said it was a common problem with Sky's poor exchange equipment and that they would reverse the problem. So silly old me signed an 18 month contract.
Though they did stop the line pausing so often, they brought the speed down.

They should have told me that they couldn't improve the latency.

Sky apparently turn the interleaving up high to give good speed at the expense of latency.
BT turned down the speed and increased the latency!

The difference to me? About an extra £20 a month.

Can't wait to get away from them.
