I had a look this morning and at 8:00am (ish) it was sat on 26 hours (ish). Moving it further with only affect the americans and people who can stay up all night (not me). I guess if all of the challenges got done it might be available by about midnight, but as I say, doesn't help me. Still, tomorrow night - Can't wait!

Got about 5 potatoes I think. Couldn't be bothered with Killing Floor. Did audiosurf. Bought Rush and got that one. Bought Defense Grid and have the first 3, but had to go to bed. Will collect the other 3 from that tonight. Don't think Iw ant the other games!

Yeah i'm calling BS on valve.

Before people go on about no guaranteed release early etc, i'll state im out right aware of this.

Basically the challenge put infront of people (after all the hardcore puzzle solving for weeks on end requiring the purchase of the "potato" pack to get the clues and such), was a simple one, play games raise the bars and the timer decreases. At first this everyone thought requires a bit of coordination but do able, thats until we maxed the first game and shaved 50mins off, then 40mins, then another 50mins, etc considering by the time the rest of these games got maxed out we're in to saturday past peak steam time.

People emailed valve staff asking for clarification on stuff, stuff like what do the potatos do, the answer that there could be a potential overclock on the cpus (aka games), so people waited and hoped for this "overclock" and nothing, the games keep chugging along. Whats worse is apparently we need to max all the games to unlock early, that is a physical impossibility. For people who are interested in seeing where the rest of the ARG goes (like me) the launch of portal 2 is holding the whole thing up.

Now fair enough the whole ARG thing has been fun, but the way people are effective made to make an additional purchase if they want to stand a chance and then this chance being pretty much rigged against the community it kinda damages the whole experience for me. It would not be so bad if it weren't for the fact this has happened before in the form a teamfortress 2 event with golden wrenches where they were meant to be random distributed, but they weren't the timing of them was all preset.

Am i disappointed portal 2 didn't unlock? Yes i am, is this just me being sour over it? I assure you not. Theres no good PR in setting a challenge and having it not come close to finishing, not for valve, not for the participants and most certainly not for any future valve "community event", its clear theyre going to be rigged. TBH I'm more concerned for the indie game publishers whos games were part of the pack, there a lot of people casually bought indie games when they were on sale etc unhappy with the way things have panned out and as a result have said they won't touch any such pack again. 15hrs remain and unless something happens at 12 any hope of good PR for valve ends there. Firefalcons gaming news weather forecast expect shitstorms.

I did say Falcon that i doubt you get the game before the release date regardless of the Steam/Potato thing..................Just another cash making idea to coin in a bit more without the fair play as you suggest.

It might unlock tomorrow because that is when its released in the USA ,but as we know they may not unlock the UK one until Midnight Thursday.

Just checked Steam and its says its releasing at 7am PST Time April 19th.
